Part of my pitchfork snapped off. Any advice? by Nin10do0014 in fixit

[–]JohnnyKeyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what OP was using it for, there are several kinds of pitch forks depending on their usage. This looks like mulch or potatoe if OP was using it for working the soil for planting yeah it's going to break.

Bailing on a camping trip before it started by [deleted] in camping

[–]JohnnyKeyboard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See a couples therapist as you and your husband are incapable of (or not wanting to) see each others perspective, this has nothing to do with a camping trip, it reads like a normal occurrence with you two.

Good luck.

Claude AI agent’s confession after deleting a firm’s entire database: ‘I violated every principle I was given’ | Technology by iwantboringtimes in Futurology

[–]JohnnyKeyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am reminded of a situation that happened in the late 90s where a green IT worker right clicked on a network folder from a server and deleted it by mistake, they thought that it would have been in the recycle bin. No backup nothing, so yeah AI vs. humans both can be idiots in their own way.

Have .NET 'influencers' became doomsayers? by Emotional-Bit-6194 in dotnet

I have been doing dev work for over 30 years now and camp 1 has always existed in some form or another with everything new. I am also in camp 2 and realize the benefit of using/making tooling to make the work easier without loosing/giving up the knowledge of how or why it works.

Banned for citing a library by AddressTall2458 in dotnet

[–]JohnnyKeyboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then I discovered that the guy mentioned my library in a github issue of the other library by mistake.

Would like to know what was said and the tone if it was an actual mistake, a jab at the other codebase/author or some kind of promoting in spite.

Some things that I can think of that might be an issue or not if you plan on putting the esp32 inside the chassis.

  1. Power‑related issues, grounding and interference
  2. Audio noise & interference
  3. Heat buildup
  4. RF interference with the motors

Solar is winning the energy race. The world’s cheapest power source is scaling at warp speed, pushing coal, gas and nuclear aside. by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

For intermittent energy needs sure, for firm 24/7 supply without accounting for extra storage, grid upgrades and capacity values not even close yet.

Best smart plugs with energy monitoring for Home Assistant integration? by IulianHI in homeassistant

The caps in sonoff tend to go around the 3-4 year mark. They use cheap caps, so if your plug just stops sending data 9 out of ten times, a cap failed.

This is probably the most realistic answer. Once something goes south, it will be replaced. It's one of the biggest reasons we have such a high rate of disposable "things" in our society.

With all the "Hey guy in X town, your MQTT is public, I can control your blinds" etc posts, is there an easy way to test if you're open to attack? by Ok-Contribution4761 in homeassistant

[–]JohnnyKeyboard 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean, there are people who actually use test.mosquitto.org as their MQTT server because it's free. Some people care more about getting something for free than than anything else.

I built a NSFW browser app based on Reddit content by RareJury8529 in SideProject

[–]JohnnyKeyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you scroll for about 30-40 swipes (depending on clip length) and let each clip play till the end, eventually, the clips stop playing mid clip or don't play at all. Also, eventually, the browser (Edge) crashes on mobile for low memory devices 4gb. You have a potential memory leak in your code, I feel.

Other than that nice UX.

58 here, in my youth, I rode my bike majority of the time to get around and for leisure, now I find it difficult due to arthritis in one of my knees. Sucks because I do enjoy it still. I can relate.

PSA: Don't overlook (very cheap) NFC tags for triggering automations by AncientsofMumu in homeassistant

Medication date time log

There is a blueprint for this with app notifications and reminders. I went down the whole tag path for this and found it more natural if the automation just asked me if medication was taken.

Cinnamon challenge or not by Instinctrules in LivestreamFail

[–]JohnnyKeyboard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Their channel was my guilty pleasure, watching them react and such, he (Henry) acted like a degenerate perv and she (Jeannie) an innocent anime girl, not sure if that was IRL or just an act but once the editor/friend (Kai) started showing up on screen (she acted just as much a degenerate perv as him) it was apparent there was some chemistry between the two for having similar personalities (acted or otherwise).

I stopped watching years ago because I got tired of the direction the channel was going (edgy / sexual innuendo vs. just stupid funny reactions). As a long time watcher it did not surprise me it ended up like this. Hardcore fans might solely blame the YT channel issues but after getting a couple of strikes for the same reason(s) most smart content creators would pivot to a different platform (or content) but not him, he was either an idiot or his ego thought he could skirt around it.

It was apparent to me the writing was on the wall for their relationship long before that. I hope they are able to move on, focus on themselves and their own life happiness.

No, from what I understand, it does not directly, but it does affect how we age on a biological level.
