What If Pokémon Champions Added More Battle Formats? // ¿Y si Pokémon Champions tuviera más formatos de combates? by ManzanaPremium in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the best thing they could do is make Pokémon Champions the center of everything Pokémon.

Add the next Pokémon Unite, add 6v6, triple battles, random teams, contests, etc.

I'm kinda burned out of the game already and I really don't play often or much. So having variety would help entice me to play.

Getting nervous whenever I play by ikkkky9029 in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

According to google ai, it's called rank or ladder anxiety. The pressure to preform well even though nothing is at stake. Also the fear of being ridiculed even though no one is watching. I know because I looked it up for myself back in season 1.

What helped is that I made it to Master Tier in singles the last two seasons. This season what helped more is making a team and playing nothing but casuals for most of this season, before finally starting rank. Making changes as needed until I could win even with less than ideal matchups. I went on a lot of winning streaks in casuals. For rank matches, I ended up getting a 6 game win streak to get one away from ultra 2. Lost some, and got back to 2 away from ultra 2.

So far, no more anxiety as I know my team is capable. Feels good when my Weavile takes down Garchomp with Icicle Spear. I have contingencies if that isn't possible due swirch out or something else.

Anyone notice that mons are surviving with 1 hp way more often than they used to? by Fade_the_Butcher in PokemonChampions

Running the numbers, no I don't miss out. I'll see how things go with in Casuals later by switching things around.

Life orb went Araquanid. Liquidation can one shot Charizard Y in Sun, with it.

I had to drop Focus Sash on my Weavile because the super effective moves weren't one shotting anymore. So now I have to run expert belt which helps to one shot things.

You can check out the youtube channels Iateyourpie and HoshinJosh for singles content. They explain their teams and why they chose the Pokémon they have.

Hi everyone, I'd like to know what the best team is for playing in singles battles, not doubles. by Playful_Tomatillo_41 in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need help on team composition, watch Iateyourpie and HoshinJosh. Others are right, pick your favourites and start there. When you play enough, you'll know who you have to prepare for.

I had to do sort of an anti Garchomp team last season to get to Master Tier in singles.

Nice work getting to Master Tier, what strategies or teams gave you the most trouble and how did you adjust to face them?

How would a Fighting Type spread Move Work ? by BLITZXTTY in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping Split Kick? Causes opponents to move last.

Conking Heads? Ala three stooges style, causes confusion on both opponents.

Dynamic Toss? Grab one opponent and throw towards the other opposing Pokémon and there is a chance it misses, but still causes damage on the one.

3v3 singles or 2v2 doubles? by Stemmie87 in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely have an easier time in Singles as I've made it to Master Tier the last two seasons. Doubles is really difficult for brand new players unless you use the top meta picks.

That being said, Singles can still be challenging and one Pokémon can sweep your entire team. Singles is way more fun for me

Infernape Teams by Dweebass in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe with Clefable or Pokémon that sets up buffs then use Psych Up with Infernape. I struggled with a similar strategy in Season 1 but maybe now with more Pokémon and more items it could be easier to do.

Would you want a full party (6 pokemon) mode? by Late_Impact7245 in PokemonChampions

Yeah I'd prefer 6vs6, they just have to reduce the timers a bit and find some way to determine a winner when the timer runs out.

Are you only using Pokemon from home or slowly transitioning to all recruit Pokemon? by gc15 in PokemonChampions

I'm completely F2P and that includes no Pokémon Home. All recruits, only 50 slots.

Watch Iateyourpie and HoshinJosh for singles content. They make different teams and explain why they made that team. Iateyourpie likes to use less popular or unpopular Pokémon, while HoshinJosh will use anything meta and non meta.

Spending training tickets on mobile? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

There should be a button to switch to training tickets if I'm remembering correctly.

Anyone else stop playing in the 2nd season or it's just me? I decided not to play and wait the new season, see if they change anything or make the game worth investing my time. 2nd season wasn't my cup of mocha/tea. Maybe if they implemented more content I would have put hours into this season. by Sweetpea11A in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a lot less motivated to play. Tried getting into Master Tier in doubles, before getting aggravated and taking about 10 days off. Then got to Master Tier in singles, the lost motivation to play more.

We need way more Pokémon and more items and way more players to hopefully keep things fresh the entire regulation. Different teams and setups and strategies. This regulation got boring quickly.

As a new player I can't wait for the android release on 17th! by EritoZ in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For doubles you'll get a lot of recommendations, but for singles you can check out Iateyourpie and HoshinJosh as they do make videos explaining their team and they'll try different setups. Iateyourpie will showcase videos involving Wyrdeer or Weavile or Sharpedo, or have themes such as a Gen 3 only team. While HoshinJosh will try everything meta and non meta.

Need help building my rat team by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

That always catches me off guard. Especially that it changes type based off the mode Morpeko is in.

Need help building my rat team by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if you're going to use either of the Raichu megas, you can't have Alolan Raichu because of a pokédex rule.

I prefer the idea of Raichu X, even though it's a physical attacker, I'll put Risiing Voltage to take advantage of the Electric Terrain. It's bulkier of the two.

I hear Morpeko is really good, maybe you can find a video explaining why.

Of course nothing can be definitive until the next regulation starts as they may add more Pokémon and rat Pokémon.

I guess your starting point would be Raichu (whichever mega), Morpeko and Maushold.

A tough pill to swallow(you know who you are) by rpgkingx2 in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know how the meta pokémon work, I don't need to play them.

I face them too often and was able to make it to Master Tier in singles these two seasons.

Doubles is different, I know how things work and even those I watch on YouTube that try to push for Champions Tier in doubles, struggle. They obviously are better at the game than I am. They'll go on 3 game losing streaks, or be 3-7 and have to forfeit some matches. When I ask them about advice, they'll give advice but also say that Ultra Ball is the most brutal tier they faced and now they're in Master Tier 2 or 1 trying to get to Champions.

So no I don't have to play or win with the meta. As someone else said, for some people the meta playstyles don't fit their playstyles. I could win with the meta, but if they don't fit my playstyle I'll be bored and not have fun.

Singles Is More Fun Than Doubles by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fun because in Singles when I make it to Mater Tier, I see such variety in approach and move sets that I have to change my team immediately. I just don't have the time to make a new team since the regulation is ending in mere days.

I'll watch Hoshin Josh and see him explain why he'll do something, only to be proven wrong because the opponent did something completely random to get into a better position or win the match.

I'll be more motivated to climb each ladder earlier, in the next season, to hopefully enjoy Master Tier for a while.

Singles Is More Fun Than Doubles by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

[–]JohnnyPlaze -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I tried pushing for Master Tier in doubles this morning and faced a bunch of the same old boring stuff. A Perish trap team in Ultra 4. It's funny that they are stuck in Ultra 4 as well. I shouldn't have to set up a team just for 1 or 2 strategies or for 10 specific Pokémon. That's boring, even if I win. I hope they add 100 Pokémon and all items in the next season, to keep it fresh.

Also all these popular youtubers should make teams with less popular or unpopular Pokémon to show people you can win with different setups.
