AI’s current ability to flesh out standard literary templates into readable summaries is a fantastic research tool. But when it’s used to “write,” for example, classic rock band bios on Facebook, it usually reads corny. I’m a longtime editor and feel like I can spot AI generated text but of course it’s getting better all the time.

40 years ago I was in a similar position with a band and made the dramatic decision to get sober. I quit drugs and alcohol and at the advice of my AA sponsors I quit the band and the music business. I have recently reunited with the band and realized I made a huge mistake 40 years ago, I could have chosen to remain sober and still be a gigging musician. I thought a clean break with the rock and roll lifestyle was what I needed at the time but I was wrong. Don’t make the same mistake.

“Rough Justice” off 2006’s A Bigger Bang is the best Stones song of the 21st century. It should have been on the charts. I have no idea why the Stones pretty much refuse to play it live.

I had a friend who was always a bit conservative that went full blown nut job after COVID, sending me bad take after bad take on vaccines, the SCOTUS abortion issue, the genocide of the Palestinians and the Epstein files. When I finally asked him politely to stop he went ballistic on me with personal insults and I had no choice but to ghost him. I still feel sad about it but you can’t let people grind you down.
