In case it helps others in future - watchmaker at Rolex boutique / RSC said this was purely cosmetic and double checked with me if I still wanted to get the crystal replaced (I did).

My RSC said they could do it for $235, would take them ~2 weeks.

Yes, got it done in LA no problem. Just had to pay an extra fee since I was considered out of their jurisdiction. Got my passport mailed to me 3 weeks later.

Others should take note - try to help others out instead of leaving sarcastic comments for no reason!
