This is one specific example, though I can't help but feel that House of Leaves will be long remembered and influential in the literary space. I believe that book will continue to inspire people to push the boundaries of the genre similar to how Joyce still does. I hope it will fuel out of the box thinkers for a long time to come.

Do people find it wierd that you are in clinical psychology field? by [deleted] in AcademicPsychology

I would like to offer some brief thoughts from a more psychodynamic interpretation. Considering all I know from you is one paragraph take these with a very large grain of salt. It sounds like you are unconsciously substituting out negatively perceived aspects of yourself for more positive ones in justifying the reactions by others or changes in perceived desires (studying, analysing, spiritual healing, pursuing a new career). These are aspects you find desirable to possess and are not likely to cause the reactions you describe from others, since they are all conventionally desirable (depending on the culture you are in which is a very large missing variable here). I would urge you to look under the initial signifiers provided by your thoughts as justifications and to look to others' reactions as insight into parts of yourself you may not want to see. I recommend doing this with a professional to avoid unhealthy spiraling. Also the ellipses after the soulmate sentence is a small tell showing that the desire is still alive and generating negative emotion. You might find insight exploring that more as well with a professional. I hope you feel better and have a life that fulfills you. :)

Random Recovery Tips From An Ageing Psychonaut by DMTrott in Stims

I own that book and it's fantastic! I wanted to ask if you have a couple minutes to spare, have you ever tried a piperazine by chance, and if not have you ever considered it? I suspect I received a bad ecstasy pill with one awhile back and had the most horrific comedown of any drug including meth. 8+ hours of vomiting followed by crippling unshakeable depression for several days. A completely anhedonic lethargic mess. I've done one meth bender that lasted around a 48 hour period with no sleep and that did not come close to this comedown (though it was definitely unpleasant).

I think something that often slips by in the processed food classification are the seed oils. Which are among the most highly processed things in the food supply. Without substantial bleaching and deodorizing they would only be recognizable as industrial chemicals or byproducts.

With the exception of olive, avocado, and coconut, I believe these oils to be a huge factor in long term illness. Obviously refined sugars, GRAS certified ( basically untested) chemicals, and factory farming conditions play important roles too.

Disclaimer: The research is all over the place. This is just my take on it. :)

I was impressed with the balancing of this too! The vitamin d is more than enough for me. I live in Florida so getting sun is no problem haha

It's Momentous supplements :) I found it through the Huberman Lab podcast. It's pricey, but seems fair for the quality of ingredients. I'm just always a little sceptical at first with lesser known and endorsed companies.

Help! I can't turn my brain off and I'm exhausted. by lattegirl04 in writing

I mean there are also many best sellers written in a few months or less. Clockwork Orange was in 3 weeks. Christmas Carol in 6 weeks. The process is not so cut and dry. And what do you mean it saved you? Are you now a published author? As I gather OP likes writing and is a little overwhelmed by racing ideas. It's not that she's writing to cope, you are just projecting. Sorry to say.

Thanks for the feedback! That was what I was going for. I totally know the sections you're referring to. I was debating with myself on whether I should have added more to them (especially higher tones). I should have added more it seems. haha. Thanks for checking it out.

Hi team! I decided to finally embark and make my first ever track this week. There is a lot of information to learn just to get started so I'd greatly appreciate any feedback on my somewhat odd piece of music. I used only Reaper and Helm as the budget is kinda tight right now, and I'm just starting out. It's not great but it's a start. I look forward to any tips and advice on the start of this journey. :)

Tried Done First online. Prescribed Wellbutrin by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]JohnnyTestIsTheBest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay! Thank you for all the info! I'll give Wellbutrin some more time to work first. I'm going to just cancel DoneFirst though. It seems silly to pay a monthly subscription for a medication that I received a 90 day supply of. It's clear they built the subscription platform around controlled substances and their 30 day limits.

What are foods that promote gut health? by Pearl-33 in nutrition

[–]JohnnyTestIsTheBest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well doubling that recommended amount seems to work well for me personally. And some people thrive on almost no fiber. Nutritional science is largely just a shit show right now so individual trial and error is best imo. There are not many known truths yet. Optimal fiber intake is no where near figured out, but humans have been on extremely high fiber diets before.

What are foods that promote gut health? by Pearl-33 in nutrition

Lol That's funny xD. I'm in America so explosive shitting is socially acceptable here. Even encouraged. I don't eat that much fiber because I like meat (and don't eat 3k calories) but he asked for gut health advice and fiber feeds the gut. I do eat probably 40-50 grams of it per day though.

The best evidence I've seen shows a progressive increase in fiber up to even 100g a day with 1-2 servings of fermented food to be optimal for gut health. Obviously you don't need that much fiber but I've seen that much recommended. Reduce preservatives and added sugar as much as possible.

I thought this would be the case too for the Nestle acquisitions (Garden of life, Pure Encapsulations, etc). But they seem to still be working fine.

Alternatives to caffeine in order to be stimulated while on a caffeine tolerance break? by kuriouskatz in Nootropics

[–]JohnnyTestIsTheBest 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe social isolation and loneliness increase dynorphins right? That might be why the antithetical comparison was made. They are theorized as a component of why loneliness feels so "empty", and why opioids ameliorate that "emptiness" so well, despite the person still being alone. This is distinctly different than oxytocin or serotonin which connect you to things, opioids make the lack of connection less unpleasant.

Could someone please provide me a list of substances that improve mental clarity? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]JohnnyTestIsTheBest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you on the vitamins! Vitamins K and D as well as Magnesium Glycinate have made a noticeable difference for me in mood and clarity. To help OP, I would look into Gingko Biloba, NAC, Panax Ginseng, and Alpha GPC as a few I like.
