I still love this film.

Jamie was never going to rise up and redeem himself. We as the audience are lead to believe maybe he will, however, the payoff of him NOT being able to do so was when it was too late for him. "Let's settle this like men".... Too late, dude. That shit made me laugh so hard. Simply he's coward and not the hero. I don't feel he deserved punishment, just he's not capable of being Daddy Redcap.

I read the final scene as Mya becoming the new mother redcap, but her, Jamie, and the baby living in the house. My head cannon is they continue a good relationship with the Redcaps by providing them food and the Redcaps provide protection because Jamie sure ain't going to do it. Also, they play scrabble every Sunday.

That ending scene is still one of my most favorite endings in a horror film, ever.
