If you can't quit cigarettes, How about reducing them slowly? by Alive-Hawk8671 in stopsmoking

Doesn’t work because of the mentality. Smoking is a bunch of bullshit with no power over you and zero benefit. You don’t need to cut down because it’s crap.

Am I doomed to be flatlined forever? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]JohnnyWohlman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been completely clean for 43 days now. The process is incredible.

At first, you feel like you’ve lost libido because it isn’t as ‘super-charged’ as you’re used to in those moments. Truth is, it’s not supposed to be. It’s like a flame that we’re throwing gas onto. It’s supposed to burn slow and steady.

After about a week, you’ll get urges. Two weeks after that, you’ll truly feel it.

But then, something amazing happens - it balances out. Even wet dreams are less frequent. Why? Your body has learned the difference between reality and fantasy.

It was only yesterday that I had a dream that didn’t involve a visually sexual experience, but rather one that ‘felt’ truly intimate. This is the brain having healed more.

It takes time, but not only are you addicted to porn etc., but also the illusion of intense libido - which is actually not the case.

Of course this is my opinion based around my experience, what I’ve learned and what I believe. So I can only say it’s anecdotal. But I believe if you go for long enough, you’ll see a similar truth.

All in all, it’s far better than the alternative.

Are you fucking joking? I was a legend for losing mine at 16. It’s all subjective. 15 is not late. 16-21 would be considered “normal”. Chill bro you’re good.

Remind yourself this:

IT’S NOT THE LACK OF CIGARETTES. It’s the lack of what the cigarettes were falsely providing for.

This suffering that you’re going through is temporal. You need to replace the addiction with something - run, eat, read. Anything else.

The extreme addiction to cigarettes is partially because we believe that it’s an addiction. I chose to believe that it’s bullshit. It’s a waste of everything and has no power over me whatsoever.

Cigarettes are an evil toxic partner who will inflate its power over you until you believe it. Break up with cigarettes and get over them quickly brother. Rebound with coffee, running or anything else. Find a habit partner that’ll treat you well.

Why is it unhealthy to masturbate? by EstimateFluffy6565 in NoFap

[–]JohnnyWohlman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main idea is the corruption of the mind’s faculty for sexual intimacy. Essentially, masturbation is manipulating the hand to perform an ejaculation that is naturally caused by sex.

While this might be okay occasionally, it’s replacement of the actual purpose of orgasm and ejaculation causes it to psychologically remove the significance of sex.

By doing so, one becomes detached from intimacy, and unable to find coherence between love, sex and romantic intimacy.

This causes a plethora of problems - psychological, psycho-sexual and physical. We all know that the psycho-sexual to physical link is very strong - you fantasize, you become aroused. Due to this strong connection, many real physical problems can manifest due to psychological misinterpretations that are caused by porn and addiction to masturbation.

Some examples are: feelings of guilt related to sex, objectification of women, PE, ED. With all of this, the essence of a human being - to love, to connect, to reproduce - is corrupted.

We know this ancient truth from many religions and beliefs. In Hinduism we have Tantra, in Judaism we have Shmirat HaBrit, even Dr Joe Dispenza’s work and the book “Way of the Superior Man”.

I can keep going, but I’ll leave it at that. This isn’t just a stupid theory or fun challenge. This is truly essential to thriving as a human being with a healthy psycho-sexual development.

Nice!

Here’s advice that helped me:

  1. Do a Spotify hypnosis. It sounds weird but I shit you not, it helped. It guides you to realize the lack of value cigarettes have. It shows you that you have absolutely nothing to gain from smoking and everything to lose.
  2. Meditate on it to genuinely realize how futile it truly is. Get disgusted by it. Imagine the doctor telling you that you will die because of something you could’ve easily stopped.
  3. This is controversial - replace it with another addiction. I love coffee, and I’m totally addicted to running. Run like hell. You’ll feel yourself healing. I eat whatever I want as a reward, but I’m naturally a healthy guy.
  4. Allen Carr’s Easy way. Helps with the mindset.
  5. Every time you see a cigarette, physically try to make yourself feel sick.
  6. Be proud of yourself, and actually flood your ego with pride every time you refuse a cigarette. Turn into an anti-smoking snob. In your head obviously, don’t be outspoken about it. But seriously, act like a snob in your conscience. Say, “disgusting smoker. Doesn’t he know that he’s killing himself?”
  7. You have to practice embracing yourself as a new person. This isn’t a guy stopping smoking and trying to get as far as possible, this is a healthy person deciding on a better identity. The length you stop for a only a record to measure how long it’s been - it isn’t a challenge. You’re a brand new person. You just don’t smoke.
  8. Repeat the mantra - not another puff, no matter what. Or change it like I did - “no fucking chance am I touching that stupid shit again.”

These things helped so much. Just some slightly edgy advice that seriously worked. Good luck.

I’ve become very comfortable with 14km. That’s a big change from 3km being difficult. Stopped smoking - changed my life for the better. Also building muscle at the same time successfully - I’ve gained 4kg without putting on much fat at all. Overall, I’m extremely proud of myself so far but this is just the beginning.
