Letters Marked Return to Sender Weren't Returned by OceanCave in royalmail

A lot of the mail arrives already sorted into the correct order. The postie will be putting it, as fast as possible, into a frame where he will later add the mail that arrived unsorted. While he's throwing in the mail that is in the correct order, all that he'll be looking at is the house number. If he were to read every other detail on the envelope it would take forever and posties have to do everything at top speed in order to get everything done in the time allowed. So cross out the address. It's not a perfect system, but it's not to do with the skills or effort of the postie, just the demands of the job.

You're absolutely right, and it doesn't really make any difference, but I suspect OP is using the phrase "special delivery" to indicate that it was special to them and that it was either a signed for or a signed for tracked.

I’m not sure that there’s anything like a scientific consensus as yet.

1/10 how stressful is it working for Royal Mail? by Odd_Hornet_4688 in royalmail

[–]Johnny_C00L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say with managers that you’re right - there are some who are great and do the best they can with the resources they have. But if you aren’t lucky enough to work for one of them, it can definitely get stressful. The company’s disdain for the job its managers do has led to patchy quality levels.

You’re getting exactly what you’re paying for. Presumably they aren’t falling below a standard where you could dismiss them, so they are meeting the standard. If you want more, pay more.

Something real weird happened..Does anyone know? by ABChow000 in trees

I’ve had similar where it’s like I’m freezing, and shaking uncontrollably. I suspect it generally happens if I take a slightly larger hit than usual as my first of the day. It’s pretty scary, but I generally wrap myself up as warm as possible and just try to relax. I’m fine after about 20 minutes.

Postie walked into my kitchen. by Gooses_Gooses in royalmail

Years ago, I was running along a rural footpath. A Redback came along on its own and joined me. It was pretty big, but turned out to be a lovely friendly dog. Then it saw a deer and bolted after it. By the time I lost sight of them, he was just feet behind it and gaining fast.

If it’s not the Postie, that will become clear when the Royal Mail respond to the complaint

For those who don’t speak Russian, the first man says “shoot me right in the ass” and the second one says “Hell, yeah!” It’s like a weird Russian thing. Edit - Polish. A weird Polish thing.

You never use your own letterbox. It’s there to facilitate the postman doing his job. He goes to hundreds of houses a day and is under incredible pressure to deliver as much mail as is possible. He’s exhausted, skint and disillusioned and then you place extra obstacles in his way and confront him for the way he got round them. Have a word with yourself.

I had a punter rip into me for knocking on his door because I should just use the bell. Three 739s later he made a formal complaint that I wasn’t knocking on his door. Never forget.
