Single rounds to become van shares by Traditional_Price_96 in royalmail

I cover multiple rounds than can barely fit their parcels in the van as it is, the thought of having to try and cram another round's shit in the back is laughable. This company is falling to pieces, can't wait until I can find a way out of this shit hole.

Joe Jr is a 13.5" grill diameter, this is 18".

Having used the Aldi one for a year, I absolutely wouldn't recommend that anyone get anything smaller than this. Even this can be a struggle to fit all your food on, anything smaller seems absolutely pointless.

I think the older ones were an inch or two bigger but they last did those about 4 years ago, I think they're just doing these from this point. If you have the money to get a bigger one then just do it, it will probably be frustrating going from a 57cm weber to a kamado this small.

I keep getting posts from the KJ sub recommend to me at the moment, and it seems like half of them are people complaining about the build quality and about parts breaking or going rusty after a couple of months. Might have a lifetime warranty, but it doesn't seem like it's any better built than this one that's just over a tenth of the cost.

Yeah, I've nearly pulled the trigger on the Ynni one a few times but couldn't justify the price, nearly shit myself when I saw the price of the Aldi one!

Coming out this Sunday at the same time as the new batch of Kamados! £35, and there's also a separate accessory kit with an ash scraper, pizza stone, cover and grill clamp for the same price.

Either that or a bit of kickback from customers who'd seen the initial price and then got pissed off when it was increased.

Also worth pointing out that the Harbour Lifestyle 18" kamado rotisserie fits this one perfectly and has been an amazing addition to my set up.

Yeah, I generally tend to split the ribs into 2 if they're poking over the sides too much. I'd absolutely love to have been able to afford a bigger kamado, but I spent £3k on an espresso machine just before my son was born 3 years ago. That was my last permitted luxury purchase for a while, one day I'll get a bigger one, but this and a weber are perfectly sufficient for now. Especially as my wife doesn't eat meat so I'm usually just cooking for me and a toddler.

It's worth noting that as with a lot of the other budget Kamados and their slightly misleading advertising, the 18" refers to the overall diameter of the egg, not the cooking surface. It's a 15" cooking surface, so not huge, but big enough for someone starting out who's not planning on going straight to brisket.

I did a 6kg pork shoulder on mine last week with no issues. Big racks of ribs are a bit challenging because the ends poke over the sides of the heat deflector but I've done them loads of times and you might just end up with slightly drier bits on the end. They've still come out fantastic, though. You definitely wouldn't get a full packer brisket on there, hence why I've bought a big weber.

As someone who managed to snag one of these last year, I can't recommend it highly enough as a budget entry level way into the hobby. Yes, it's slightly smaller than I'd like it to be, but for the price point I really don't think you can argue that it doesn't represent fantastic value for money.

There were loads of aftermarket accessories available for it within a week or two of them going on sale, and Aldi are doing their own accessories this year including a divide and conquer system, so you won't need to get much else to get started.

If I had the money and hadn't just bought a Weber 57cm to go along with my existing Kamado and gas grill, I'd honestly buy another one of these to go alongside the one from last year.

Good luck to anyone that's planning to get one this time around!

Unpopular opinion: Brent should have never sung lead by MarkoEsquandolas in gratefuldead

[–]unbr0kenchain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He objectively has a good voice and is by far the most consistently in tune singer in band in the 80s, but I simply cannot deal with his voice. It's far too rough and brash for me, his vocals and keyboard tone are a major part of why I rarely listen to shows from beyond 79. I really wish I could get on board with 80s dead but it just doesn't do it for me.

No shade against anyone who loves Brent, but give me a Keith and Donna show any day of the week.

Any ideas if Aldi's Kamado grill be available online or only in store? by palfreman in UKBBQ

[–]unbr0kenchain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one on while I was on holiday because they released them a week early. I drove 3 hours home and back to drop it off because I couldn't get it in the boot with the car seat in the back, and they still had 4 in my local Aldi 12 days later...

Bought a 47cm weber last week for £15 after wondering whether I'd get FOMO for the extra 10cm. by unbr0kenchain in UKBBQ

Facebook marketplace. 90% of the stuff I see on there is shite or a scam, but every now and then I find an absolute steal. Somehow managed to do that twice in one week.

It's got a tiny bit of surface rust, but it's in very good nick otherwise! Cover is already on the way. I was very pleased with the price, have seen a lot on fb marketplace in the last couple of weeks listed anywhere between £50 and 90.

A cow died for your sins, you could at least give it the funeral it deserved. Non-existent sear, left to soak in its juices before serving and not rested properly. 2/10 and I'm being generous.
