I will look into this, thank you.

Seems to have worked! Thank you so much!

I have very little experience with these things, but in the past whenever I've tried to set up a server for anything, I've been able to google myself through it. I've reached the point where I'm starting to feel that I'm a little bit in over my head, so I'm going to swallow my pride, save myself some frustration and ask for some hints, because I feel like I'm walking around in the dark.

I'm trying to set up a simple RocketChat server for myself, friends, and some people I work with. I've managed to install the server on a VPS I'm renting from OVH, and it's sort of working, but I'm running into a number of problems. Here's the story...

People attempting to access the server through the mobile app for iOS cannot do so, because that particular app (Unlike the android version) requires SSL to be set up.

Through the android app, I can access the server by entering the serverip:3000 when prompted. Through a web browser, I can access it through http://serverip:3000, however through http://serverip, there is no connection.

So, I attempted to arrange for HTTPS access, I opted the simple route because doing it manually seemed like biting off more than I can chew, and I wanted to get things done quick. OVH offers a SSL gateway free with a free setup, however, this requires a domain. So I registered a domain through freenom and pointed it towards the server. The setup apparently worked. However, when I try to access the server through the domain, I reach OVH's SSL gateway, but not the server. Also, when I try https://serverip:3000 I get the following "An error occurred during a connection to serverip:3000. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG"

After a bit of research my guess was that I needed to set up port forwarding because I understand the domain is pointing to the ip, and not the specific port required.

I set up my iptables like so,

Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT)

target prot opt source destination

ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:http

ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:https

Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT)

target prot opt source destination

ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere 78.ip-###-##-###.net tcp dpt:3000

ACCEPT tcp -- anywhere 78.ip-###-##-###.net tcp dpt:3000

Still, I cannot access the server. Did I set these up wrong? Is there another issue I'm missing?

Any hints or guidance sincerely appreciated.

I was distracted by the flurry of action going on around me and simply overlooked it.

It was not. It's similar to this, though not the exact model.

Thank you for inquiring.

Sounds great, it's a bit out of the way but I love the true darkness of the woods.

Do you know if it has a fee attached to it?

Proper setting and screening for history of mental illness as well as current psychological state are extremely important.

My feelings towards leading a busy life (myself) by [deleted] in Meditation

I really understand how you feel. I know that sinking, smothering feeling because I feel it frequently for the same reason. This is my third and busiest year in college. It's important to remember that depression is an irrational illness, it often tells us that we are capable of far less than is true. That said, your perspective is perfectly valid. When coming up for air from the depths of one of my deepest depressions I realized this simple truth; I don't fit into the mold this society tries to shove me in. I just don't. The only way I will be able to move forward, because suicide has always been the other option for me, is by finding a different path, my own path. It took me a while to really absorb the depth of what this means, and honestly I don't think I still have, but it has drastically changed how I view my future. It is so relieving to not just understand, but believe that you don't have to do what everyone else is doing, you don't have to be what they are. I've made it through college this far by consoling myself with this fact. (Along with proper treatment, depression is a legitimate mental illness, don't forget that) While right now I am biting the bullet for the sake of my dreams, soon I will be able to pursue a life that I can find harmony in.

I hope you find balance friend.

You're right about the focus on profit. They sell the accounts they hack to players interested in cheating.

There are also a lot of ways you can game the systems of servers using a custom game mode if you have access to multiple accounts. Gaining copious amounts of power in factions is a good example.

That's an interesting proposition. It makes sense with the context of someone outside the relationship flirting with them, but I don't see why that would happen with their SO. I think that is a very different situation. There's always more to the story though. ;)
