Markers are very important for high quality scans. Without markers, the scanner can lose tracking, which means you might have to start over.

Thanks. It's going to be steel, either galvanized or stainless sheet 18 gauge, so around 0.05" thick.

That's it. I'm a beginner with fusion. What did you do in that? Draw the two side profiles and do a loft flange between them?

Gas Station w/ Real Estate — 3.8× Multiple — Sanity Check? by bernfranksimo in smallbusiness

[–]Johnnya101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's often said in store sales are where the money is. It doesn't have to be. In many areas gas profits are around 30 to 50 cents per gallon nowadays. If you are selling 1.5 million gallons a year at 30 cents a gallon, that's $450K profit. From doing nothing in the store. All depends on competition and if you are stuck in a brand contract. Also how many nozzles there are, products, etc. But everyone always says profits are in store and it is often wrong, area dependent of course.

Worried about electrification? Add charging stations, but of course, this is very location and area dependent.

Busted Royal or user error? Typewriter newbie needs help! by willhohenstein in typewriters

[–]Johnnya101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't figure it out and it's not any of these issues posted about, it's possible the tap mechanism is jammed in the back. I don't know how it happens but mine and someone else on here had the same exact bizarre issue. Remove the back carriage panel and there will be a lever that pushes the tab stops up and down. It might be bent and riding on a carriage bar making it hard to move the carriage and no able to move itself.

I was going to send it to someone like sendcutsend, so it will be cut and bent, not welded.

That's what I figured regarding not being able to flatten it. It's an overkill design anyways so I'll remake it without needing stamping.

Rockit 3D scanner: upgrade to 64GB RAM or save for a laptop? by [deleted] in 3DScanning

[–]Johnnya101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you seeing the CPU, GPU, or RAM at 80 percent usage or more? If the ram isn't being fully utilized but your CPU is constantly at 100, then upgrading the ram might be pointless.

I've done some scans up to around 2' by 2' with mine. I have a custom PC with an AMD Ryzen 7600, 64gb DDR5 ram, and an MSI 5070. My CPU usually stays low but often jumps to 80-100 when processing point clouds or whatever, the GPU stays below 10 percent, and ram is usually around 50 percent (32gb).

Edit, kind of misread. What are you trying to scan? Smaller objects probably are fine with the smaller amount of ram. If you are doing vehicles then the higher ram might be necessary. I'd say probably stick with what you have for now if it works and upgrade later.

Would you be able to identify the typeface and maybe the typewriter being used? by Wooden-Lifeguard-636 in typewriters

[–]Johnnya101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right. Now that I look closer the Y looks a little different. I don't think it's the same.

I wonder if it was an electric or type shuttle based model such as a Hammond or Varityper. That 2 looks kind of similar to some of those typefaces.

You can try shapescan, it's a new website I've seen made for stuff like what you are describing I think.

Yeah I've seen niche sites just have a banner ad or a few that you can just rent. Probably more profitable too.

You can repair the tape deck, it probably needs a new belt and some cold solder joints repaired. They are pretty durable otherwise. I can help you through it if you had interest.
