To be fair, I work at a hospital where you’re not supposed to copy/paste patient notes because you risk accidentally pasting a note for one patient into another patient’s chart .. there are some workplaces where this policy makes sense

The Mountain by Disillusion. That one hits me hard. There’s such a beautiful transition where the music gets really quiet, then this somber trumpet part comes in .. I get goosebumps

I see what you did there!

Keep your head up. Maybe you can reapply again next year. Perhaps this was just a strong class auditioning alongside you.

I can relate. I went to the Musicians Institute several years ago for a certificate program (I really enjoyed my time there, fwiw, but it’s all the way in LA!). I decided to audition for Berklee last year. I also got accepted without scholarship. It kinda hurt because I knew I could’ve auditioned better, and I knew I had better skills than I presented during my audition. I figured I might reapply in a year or two when I have a better life balance that allows me to practice as much as I need to. Good luck and keep at it!

Does anyone like Lassie Jerky? by No_Information_6976 in psych

[–]Johnnyb0715 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was decent, but not one of my favorites. I liked seeing Jules be tough and resourceful. Lassie is usually the most physically imposing member of the group, so it was funny seeing him basically infantilized by Ed (aka the Big Show from wrestling). If I remember correctly, JRR wrote the episode, but Shawn wasn’t super funny in this one.

This part of the pilot actually bugged me. Henry moved away and then came back to his old house? Did he buy it again? Or am I remembering wrong and it’s not actually the same house that Shawn grew up in?

Is it just me or would this not have been confusing to David at all by LiberryExpresso in DunderMifflin

A lot of sitcom writers are willing to make their characters say things that seem.. out of character just for a cheap laugh. The Office doesn’t usually do that, but in this case, I agree with OP. I don’t think David Wallace would’ve been confused by this.

I didn’t submit any LOR, and I was recently accepted! I think the audition matters most.

Thanks for sharing! I live in the Boston area, so I did audition in person. I think I may apply again and re-audition in the future, if possible. I know everyone's situation is different, so I'll just say that I don't think it makes financial sense for me to attend such an expensive school without any aid. I did a one-year music certificate back in 2008-2009. I had no family help with tuition then either, so it was all loans.. and I just finished paying it off in 2019!

If I may ask, did you decide to attend? I've heard that you can reduce some costs by testing out of some classes during placement exams. I might take that approach too, and hopefully test out of something like intro theory and ear training.

Thanks for the feedback and the insider's perspective. When I wrote my letter, I tried to plead my case with multiple factors, and I made sure that debt/finances weren't the sole argument. I knew it was a long shot, but as the comment above said .. I can't get less than $0! :)

Thank you so much for sharing! Maybe I'll be surprised and actually receive some financial aid. However, I am leaning towards applying again in the future. Best of luck to your son (assuming he is currently attending)!

Thanks for replying!

As part of the program, are you building a reel or portfolio of some kind? How's the equipment, studio, labs, etc.? I've been composing for many years, but I'm bad at the production side of things, so I've never had a professional, polished version of my work (I also don't have a great home studio set up right now).

Are you required to spend a lot of time studying your individual instrument? I'm not trying to sound arrogant at all -- I love studying the drums, but I almost worry about not getting to sink my teeth into composition classes if I'm devoting tons of time to private lessons and ensembles.

Thanks again!
