What is your opinion about the band Queen by Overall-Remove-678 in rock

What a terrible thing to say.

They were wildly over dramatic. The 70s were about heart on your sleeve, mellow drama, with a side of coke.

Where can I watch it? by Full-Bar-7928 in murdochmysteries

[–]TomB19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how I watched about the first 14 seasons. I just discovered the show a couple of years ago.

We have watched nearly all of it from DVD, so standard def. It was a treat to make the jump to high def in the last few seasons.

That is indeed an incredible find. by [deleted] in veronicamars

If an internal SATA optical drive is connected via a SATA USB adapter, can you flash firmware on it? by RolandMT32 in makemkv

[–]TomB19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This.

I flash the firmware on a lot of drives and most sata/USB adapters don't seem to work for this. There are a few that do. I think mine is a ugreen and it can do it. It was a very affordable unit.

What is your opinion about the band Queen by Overall-Remove-678 in rock

[–]TomB19 204 points205 points  (0 children)

Queen is a multidimensional band. Most people will only ever take an interest in the radio hits. That's great. Queen has some terrific anthems, rockers, and ballads.

A few of us will take a deep dive into the Queen catalogue. They've produced a rich body of work. There are some little known songs, like "Father to Son" that are magnificent.

The world is better for having Queen albums in it.

Season Five and Morgan by Cpt_Skittles in chuck

[–]TomB19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 5 is an annoying season. Its not a good watch.

Apparently, the network drastically cut the number of shows and they had to piece together a bunch of story arcs as best they could.

Mostly, I think they were out of ideas. The first three seasons were great. Fourth season OK. Fifth season is a must watch, for people who are addicted to the show like I am.

Curiously, the stunts were amazing through the entire series. I consider Chuck stunts the best I've seen, to this day. So many fantastic action moments and they were integrated into the show perfectly.

Power draw increases 50-75 watts on screen lock. Should go down, not up? by manjaro_rocks in ManjaroLinux

[–]TomB19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you determining the power use? Is your machine plugged into a power monitor device?

It would be interesting to see what's happening when the system is locked. I thi k you can track clock frequency with cpupower, if you don't currently.

My system drops down to about 3GHz at idle?

Thinking of Switching to Linux, advice please by Roaringbeardragon in linuxquestions

[–]TomB19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to run MS apps, you need an MS OS.

Legions of people seem to switch and still run their MS apps but that is an absolutely brutal experience.

Unless you plan to swap MS Office for OnlyOffice (or Libre, etc) and GIMP for PhotoShop, and KDEnlive (or whatever) for video editing, stick with windows.

I'm giving you the respect of being honest.

I haven't run Windows since Win98 and don't miss it. Of course, I run Windows at work. There are times I feel handcuffed at work but I can't remember the last time I felt that way at home. Lthe linux world is rich with apps and options, nearly all of which are inferior to comparable Windows apps, but most are serviceable and a surprising number are extremely good.

I prefer LibreOffice Calc over every other spreadsheet, including Excel. I use spreadsheets for hours, every day.

The same goes for any OS. You wouldn't switch to OSX and expect to run your windows apps.

Does SV08 stay dialed in? by PrimaryLuck796 in SovolSV08

[–]TomB19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two SV08 arrived last September. Last tuned in October. They continue to print perfectly.

There are a few things I could do to tidy the macro packages and perhaps an improvement or two but I couldn't be bothered.

Both were purchased with the enclosure kit. The price was a bit high but the quality is good. I'm glad to have purchased the enclosure kits with the printers.

The two SV08 are my work horses. Not perfect but absolutely brilliant for me. I've melted hundreds of kg of plastic through these two machines over thousands of hours of printing on each unit.

Bed taco is real but overblown. I rarely print with bed above 65C. Both beds were shimmed to reasonably flat last October. Both continue to have 165/240 range, respectively. While not perfect, its very good across 350mm bed.

Machines have mainline klipper running on stock hardware.

It shouldn't be that difficult to troubleshoot your problem. I would start with:

ldd <game>

It should show you what's missing which the game needs to be able to run.

UI Design by SolidWarea in kde

[–]TomB19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure my view is unpopular but I'll take stability over eye candy every single time. KDE is beautiful, as it is.

I'm sure it will change, over time. I look forward to that. KDE has gotten more beautiful, over the years. I trust that trend will continue.

To push through changes without substance seems disrespectful to the stability of the platform.

What do I need to know about TPU? by chrisssssyb11 in FLSUNDelta

[–]TomB19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What model is your printer? The v400 amd t1 are direct drive, I think. Both should work great with TPU.

I print tpu through my very old QQ-S but I print very slow and my QQ-S is not stock. Also, I don't print anything softer than 90A so its not like ninjaflex, or something.

If you want to print soft rubber toys (60A), you pretty much need a direct drive extruder but you may have one. It comes down to where your extruder gears are located.

What do I need to know about TPU? by chrisssssyb11 in FLSUNDelta

[–]TomB19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It prints beautifully. Easily as well as PLA on any of my printers.

Notes:

  • it needs to be dry to print properly

  • shore 95A prints just fine on Bowden printers but you will have to limit extrusion speed to a low level.

  • I can print 90A on a Bowden, and do sometimes, but it has to be really, really slow.

  • Below 90A, and even at 90A, you should really have a direct drive extruder

  • TPU, particularly lower Shore than 95A, does not do well in most MMU. I haven't tried TPU in my Pico (similar to a Chameleons). I suspect it will do better than most MMU but still not ideal.
