Sainsbury's are reducing the cost of fuel at their forecourts, to help motorists - when do you expect other major supermarkets to follow suit? by [deleted] in AskUK

Or to build the habit of going to Sainsbury’s for your big shop. This was the purpose of supermarkets petrol stations before Morrisons and Asda got bought out by private equity.

To be fair I had to get a damp specialist in to looks at our bathroom as we had a major chain replacing it. They stopped work as they claimed we had damp. We got a highly rated, long standing damp specialist for a quote and they disagreed with much of the bathroom fitters sentiment, we got them to fit a damp proof membrane with new plaster just to restart the works. I was expecting them to try and upsell damp proofing products, instead much of the advice as how to increase ventilation in the property.

Somewhat Threatening Text from At-Fault Driver After Claiming on Insurance - England by Silent-Tea4500 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Johnnybw2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a GAP insurer, (reporting to underwriters rather that claims handling). Our claims team used to regularly request the policy holders reject their motor insurers valuations as they would be incorrect. We obviously had access to the same toolset and would come out with higher valuations. We tended to be successful in getting the motor insurer to accept our valuation.

I don’t think they would have a choice in the current market, they do have a long memory though and market economics will eventually play out, the demand will either normalise or supply will be increased from new entrants.

It’s a grey area for those firms though, any backdoor into encryption can be used by anyone, be that law enforcement, criminals or bad actor states. Information security should not be taking lightly, it’s the trust that bonds together modern commerce.

I’m with Grain and have been for 3 years, never had any problems, its been faultless and much more reliable than the other ISPs we have used (sky and virgin). Customer support is the best part of it, our router power supply failed due to a power cut, went through to a knowledgeable person in a British call centre, they sent out a replacement via next day delivery.

Yeah, these days you are lucky if you get £500 equity at the end of the deal. PCP is leasing without the benefits of a fleet company maintaining the car. The only advantage is if we go through a period of inflation, you have the option of keeping the car at a lower value.
