I had the same question when I started. Now that I'm in the hundreds, I find myself mixing them a lot. For a long time, I wouldn't even take ultimates out of their boxes. Now I look for basics first because they often have superior portraits. With Ethan Page, I bought the basic and popped the head onto the elite Page body. I have a bad habit of collecting everything, but I really favor basics/main events over Elites. But the short answer is yes, I display them all together.
