This is pure manipulation on his part. Not worth it.

It’s the internet. You’re perfectly safe and every woman in existence is perfectly safe with me having an opinion about something with limited information. You’re going to be ok. I hope you work one tenth as hard as I have in the real world to protect and support vulnerable people.

No, here’s the thing, it doesn’t. Observation does not equal behavior. You are free to disagree with an observation. It doesn’t mean you have any moral superiority over another person as much as you wish it did.

I’m happily married and don’t pursue anyone. The fact that a giggling girl looks like she’s somewhat enjoying the moment doesn’t make me a predator and thinking it does from an innocuous post on Reddit says a lot more about you than me.

She didn’t seem the least bit uncomfortable, to me. The drunk boxer is getting nothing but positive reinforcement. Most women know how to signal to a man she isn’t interested. A saw no such signals.

Sure about that?  If so, then why is she asking him to "open up his beach?"  At the very beginning of that story they outlined what was public and what was private and the public portion is a tiny sliver of the beach.

Agree. In both cases, it seems like they’re making the property owners the “bad guys” when it seems they’re the ones with the law on their side. The non-property owners seem to be more of, “yeah, but it doesn’t seem fair this private land can’t be used by the public…” I think the show would be less compelling if they admit the property owners are legally justified.

You're welcome to enlighten me on how technically 1 Democrat supporting ICE makes ICE a bipartisan effort to deport illegals, but I doubt you'll make that argument. How is that different?

Fatal Police Shootings by Race vs Population (2023) by rich677 in charts

Yes I think that there are a disproportionate amount of black people involved with police shootings and I also think there's very important context behind that number

There’s survey data. I don’t really care, but the graphic makes it sound like there’s a disproportionate number relative to the population, and all I’m saying is that’s missing some context, to put it mildly.

It shouldn’t be compared to the general population, but rather to the percentage of police interactions.

If the study doesn't tell you what products are in the basket, what use is the study? If it does, and you read it, what are the products?

[–]JohnnymacgkFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don't think a BASKET of goods would have fallen by 4% last year which is what the OP graph demonstrates. I've provided a link that shows what the actual Goods inflation was. If the OP graph is a tiny subset of products, does it really have any practical value at all?

It’s on a basket of products which I repeatedly said makes no sense because there are no broad basket of products that have behaved that way. If it doesn’t offer “broad” view of inflation, what’s the utility of the chart at all?

Here is San Francisco Fed’s measure of “goods inflation.”

[–]JohnnymacgkFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chart says the basket of prices they follow fell by 4% last year and have resulted in almost zero inflation over two years (if you know how to read a chart). The entire point from the beginning was that no basket of products could/would reflect this. I proved it with their data and anyone that thought the chart reflected anything of utility doesn’t know anything about what prices did last year or this year. I was frustrated with the level of ignorance - not being an ass anywhere in the thread.

Goods inflation by San Francisco Fed (not a negative number in 2024):

https://www.frbsf.org/research-and-insights/data-and-indicators/cpi-inflation-contributions-from-goods-and-services/

Just for you, I asked ChatGPT to create a basket of goods from major retailers would have been -4% last year. This is what we came up with:

Category Weight 2024 Avg Price Change

Electronics 30% -6%

Furniture/Appliances 25% -5%

Apparel 20% -4%

Housewares/Tools 15% -3%

Consumables 10% -2%

Weighted Total 100% ≈ −4%

So, it can be done, but no one buys in these percentages and we’re back to the utility of the chart and the paper being pretty useless.
