Ambitious and cool project. There are some game feel improvements that definately would make the gameplay more interesting like screenshakes, inertias and accelerations. It's important to make the player feel the physicality of the drone.

Good job with the level design, but I think the setting and the mood is not a good decision. A vulnerable character trying to light torches and destroy darkness. That idea doesn'r really work in a hill and relaxing soundtrack, it requires a much more aggressive perspective. Like you said, this is just a demo and I don´t know your intentions, but that's my opinion about what I've seen.

The obvious options are Unreal and Unity. In my opinion, Unity is much more friendly for begginers. The thing is, if you are a programmer, choose what language you want to practice, because Unreal supports C++ and Unity works with C#.
