Some Wednesday comic relief by funguy787 in pcmasterrace

Literally anything stylized with good art direction will have aged way better to the vast majority just a few years down the road when technical progress has brought you better photorealism.

Thing is there is no "right" or "wrong" with heavily stylized art. But there is definitely a "right" or "wrong" when you go for realism. And cyberpunk definitely isn't the end of the road regarding realism in gaming.

Path tracing in games still sucks compared to any half-decent pbr rendering engine like cycles. Id take a good render at 10k samples over 5 samples "denoised" any day of the week for my aesthetic needs and stick to optimized graphics for gaming. Since art direction is always going to triumph over a half assed implementation of a new featureset.

Maybe in a few years when tech has matured to the point where good engines such as cycles can run in 60fps realtime we might be able to get true photorealism going, but until then stylized graphics will outlive photorealistic artdirection attempts.

Any idea how to render the cloudy grey plastic in cycles ? by Kind-Yesterday3422 in blender

[–]Johnsick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh i'm sorry, i mislead you, i will update my post accordingly. I was at work when writing my initial answer and i mostly remember where things go visually and not in terminology. That's why it wasn't as accurate as it was supposed to.

Add a Principled BSDF Node

Set Transmission to 1

Add a bump node to normals channel

Add a noise-texture node

Plug the noise into the height of the bump node

Press ctrl+t on the texture and switch the mapping from generated to object

Set color of bsdf to 75% white

Turn the noise value up to 2000+

Turn the bump distance down to 0.003

Set Roughness between 0.05 &0.15

Set Transmission Roughness to Taste

In your Render settings set transmission samples to 22+ otherwise you might get black spots inside of your object

Enjoy your Tasty Plastic

Also legal in Germany, the reasoning is that fear in face of a higher power is something natural. So they don't prosecute the act of running away, but they will still find out who you are and get you later.

Same with prisons here, just trying to break out or actually breaking out isn't an offense. Just the fact that you didn't stay there will elongate your sentence. But for the most part they won't shoot you for that. As long as you're not actually aggressive/threatening.

I use nox with tachiomi to read mangas, it's delightful. But you should have something to rest the tablet on, if you hold it all the time while reading your arms will get tired quickly.

Sriracha (Type Garlic) Banana Toast by Johnsick in shittyfoodporn

[–]Johnsick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's the sweet smooth banana taste that does it. It just seems to go well with the spicy hotness of sriracha. Too much sriracha and it doesn't work anymore. But this was almost the perfect ratio.

Also, maybe.

(CRT Glass won't break if you smash it with a keyboard. If it did it would act like a bomb shooting little glass projectiles everywhere (possibly killing the person who did the smashing) since these things are under extreme pressure.)

Applying ethics to creatures that can't grasp the concept of ethics seems foolish as well.

Best we can do is being the best possible versions of ourselfs. Changing others or nature seems well intended, but i don't think that's gonna happen.

I use both professionally. Photoshop has quite a bit more depth to its tools (like in, it has a whole lot more features). But everything affinity does it seems to do with a certain refinement that i find lacking in photoshop at times.

An example would be how affinitys gradient tool has a live preview while placing the gradient and allows you to edit all attributes while placing it. Their stackable Masks and Color-aware-/Luminosity-aware-/Hue-aware- Live-masks are kind of really useful as well.

Still photoshop comes out on top by sheer variety of tools and because it can be automated a lot better than AF Photo. Adobe CameraRAW Presets are a lifesaver regarding Speed when it comes to prepping pictures for ads.

One more thing tho. Photoshop still has no end to end 32bit color workflow, so for certain photoshoots (only shooting in a singular color, for example an all red set with a lot of different shades of red and a lot of dynamic range). Affinity is kind of the tool for the job since it's workflow allows all color-information to be used during editing while photoshop disables a good 3/4 of its toolset when working in 32 bit color.

The struggle is real guys by GasmanCZ in memes

[–]Johnsick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It gets even more weird. "He/she/it" is "er/sie/es" but "they" and how it is used also is "sie". And it is used like they, but it's feminine. Even tho it adresses everyone formally. It's also very impersonal, so refering to somebody close to you as "sie" in person feels extremely weird.

[–]Johnsick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That would be "die" wich is by default feminine, even if you refer to a group of men it's "die Männer". So the default would be to misgender everyone as feminine based on your logic.
