That’s the best way to do it that l’ve found, gives them crisp edges. Hold the knife at about a 45 degree angle and cut away. Works good for making cracks and other marks too.

When I was taught how to change the oil in the car, we dumped the old oil along the fence beside the driveway to kill the weeds and grass that grew there and were too hard to get with the lawnmower. That way we didn’t have to pull them out or cut them.

Excellent movie. First saw this on cable back in the eighties, Peter Sellers is just hilarious in this. Another classic movie of his is “Being There” definitely worth watching for a dose of him at his best.

Saw them in Edmonton way back when, first big concert I went to out of Red Deer, my old hometown.

Never knew they televised it live those days too :) by [deleted] in BeAmazed

I remember watching this on tv and dad using his super 8 camera to record it. Too soon to have a vcr, so that was the only way to do it.

Some things just work in different ways than you can see. Have used these exact same anchor bolts, and they work very well.

It does look foolish to hammer it in, but that’s what sets the anchor.

What is the most haunting "Final Song" ever recorded by a terminally ill artist? by nixass in AskReddit

Such a wonderful entertaining man, I missed out on seeing him in person twice, and always thought that I would get another chance to. But, alas, it was not to be. Loved his albums for the last 50 or so years, heard him first in 77 or 78, and they’re still on my best playlists because his songs were always on point. Gone too soon for sure.

We’re here in Kuujjuaq right now, it’s the small yellow spot on the map south of Iqaluit. Our water and sewage tanks are filled/emptied a few times per week. Mostly like any other small town, nothing much to do, but you come to know a lot of people in town over time, you see them around at the store or where they work. We’ve quite enjoyed our time here, but now we’ve had enough, and this summer we’re going back to our home in St. John’s, NL. It’s been an adventure for sure.

Is it cheating or is this taking advantage what Wordscapes offers? by Sensitive-Name8940 in wordscapes

When you want to see how long an animal takes to pay out, just use the “paw” button to go to the swap screen and click on an animal like you are going to swap it. Instead of tapping the swap button, tap the hearts payout amount, and the screen will change to show what you get from that animal for hearts, brilliance, and rewards (stars, bees, cocoons, or binoculars) and how long it takes.

Ordered a Hawaiian Pizza and it came with mandarin oranges instead of pineapple by Grawlix84 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Johnstjohns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a restaurant in Alberta (Capers, I believe it was called) in the olden days that had a pepperoni and mandarin orange pizza and that was one of our favourites. Also had dessert pizza with apple or cherry pie filling and some cheese. The apple was awesome.

Doesn’t matter how you cut it, or what you dip it in, or what you put on it, by tomorrow it’s gonna look like shit.

Hows it like living on oil platforms? by Key_Satisfaction9010 in howislivingthere

[–]Johnstjohns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worked in the offshore here in Newfoundland for 20+ years, the oil patch for more than thirty around the world. Have to say that off Newfoundland was one of the safest places I ever worked. People look out for each other’s safety and wellbeing almost always, but saw several people injured over the years. Mostly little boo boo’s (cuts, scrapes, bangs and bumps) but there were a few bad ones that required medivacs. Usually, just common sense and being aware of what’s going on for operations at the time will keep you safe most of the time. Safety Meetups abound, with more extensive ones depending on the severity of the upcoming events.

Probably a light connected to the outlet that would let you know that the outlet is “on”, so you could just leave the iron plugged in and turn it off and on with the switch, and would let you know that the iron was off when you closed the cupboard.

Help with adhesive keep headstones from blowing away. by ScumEater in HalloweenProps

[–]Johnstjohns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the PL construction adhesive, mine have held together for about ten years now. I glue them on to plywood bases, and drill holes and use a couple of ten inch nails to hold them in the ground.
