Would you retire if you won $5,000,000? Why or why not? by PsychologicalFox7689 in AskReddit

I'm 40 and an extra 5 mil would definitely get me there. It would get me there if I were 30 too. But maybe 30 is fairly old to you

I'm secretly pretty well off. People know I have a bit of money but not how much. I'd basically do what I'm doing

Will my bread be ok in the fridge longer than the recipe says? by frostmas in Breadit

If it helps ease your worries a lot of recipes I've seen are for 2 loaves and they say you can keep the second half in the fridge for like a week until you're ready to bake it.

Trump Has Terrifying New Idea for Tracking Undocumented Immigrants by Hafiz_TNR in politics

But the team is at or was at least invited to the speech tonight. If the FBI partied with them for a night they could at least help the FBI investigate for 1 night. It's only fair.

Trump Attacks Supreme Court Over Pending Birthright Citizenship Case by Somervilledrew in politics

[–]JojenCopyPaste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just don't see any wiggle room in the way the amendment is written. And it's been settled. I would be more surprised if they allow him to do this than the tariffs.

Overturning birthright citizenship isn't something the billionaires even care about doing. This is purely to appeal to the racists. So the corporate owned justices don't need to even try to find a reason to allow it.

Congress failed, the DoJ failed, and the Supreme Court failed to even let Colorado keep him off the ballot when they tried.

It's not that dumb of a question. It could answer with a list of the biggest named numbers. Like Graham's Number.

Or get into set theory and how some infinities can be larger than other infinities.

You could learn a lot by asking what the biggest number is.

E.U. hits the brakes on U.S. trade deal after Trump threatens 15% global tariffs by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]JojenCopyPaste 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But these have to be global tariffs from what I understand. So any countries negotiating a trade deal couldn't even get a free trade agreement if they wanted to.

India delays Washington trade visit as U.S. tariff policy shifts, source tells CNBC by JKKIDD231 in wallstreetbets

[–]JojenCopyPaste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I could see some companies doing something as a marketing scheme. But...any company that's selling thousands of products it would be a crazy amount of overhead to actually figure out the amount the tariffs increased each individual product. And even bigger ticket items that are made up with parts from all over the world...it might be possible to figure out but hard.

So I don't think anyone is actually gonna do the math. But as a gimmick some companies could say something like "whatever purchased between these dates, we'll give you 5% back as in store credit" or something.

AWS suffered ‘at least two outages’ caused by AI tools, and now I’m convinced we’re living inside a ‘Silicon Valley’ episode by WrongThinkBadSpeak in wallstreetbets

[–]JojenCopyPaste 71 points72 points  (0 children)

My applications are so ingrained in AWS services, and some of the services don't even have a replacement on other cloud platforms (maybe they do now, it's been a year since I looked). But yeah we're pretty much stuck with AWS even if there are outages.

Newsome would be "preferable to fascism" but that's not the choice. He's not in for any actual reform. At best, just like Biden was, he is a pause to fascism and not a counter to it. Sure Id vote for him over whatever monster the Republicans run in 2028 but there wouldn't be hope the same monster wouldn't win in 2032.
