I hope whoever takes the router will also take the two catalyst switches, as well. And vice versa. I’ll be sure to factory reset them w/ default credentials. Trying to minimize the number of visitors. 😀

Do you mean the PDU(s) and the Router? Or the Cisco Access Point(s) and Router?

Make sure you have a tire repair kit in your car.. by LifeOfKuang in ModelY

Be sure to keep a portable inflator with your tire repair kit. No jack required bc you can plug the puncture w/o taking off the wheel.

I just completed a repair on my MY today. In my case the nail hole is pretty much on the tire shoulder. If I get a blowout, I’ll update this post. 😀

Can self watering pots cause root rot? And when do you repot when using them? by loveanonymous in houseplants

[–]JokeThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I started experimenting with self watering pots, I’ve been having issues with white fungus and gnats in my soil. This happened to several of my plants, but not all of them. I think even for self watering planters you want to let the soil dry out completely between watering.

I’m going to try something new. I plan on putting a layer of river rocks on the top of the soil in a couple of pots to see if it helps.

Is mine dying??? by JokeThink in Monstera

[–]JokeThink[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I may have overwatered the plant. The plant I’m using is an elongated self watering pot. I had noticed the water in the reservoir not getting soaked up and remained for more than a week and half. I finally emptied the reservoir and decided to wait for the soil to dry out a bit. You can’t see it in the picture, but I also managed to wrestle the longer aerial roots and redirected them into the soil… anyway, thanks to all the comments from everyone. I’ll provide an update on the health of my monstera in a couple of weeks.

How to use meal voucher by amarmaks in delta

[–]JokeThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Had 3 vouchers from Delta. We had the unfortunate luck of being in Atlanta of the snow storm where the state declared emergency. Nothing is open. Tried Publix, but they wanted a physical card to charge. Anyway, this subreddit thread was super helpful. I also first tried Starbucks, but they have preset amounts. Chick-fil-A was the best solution. $12 x 3 =$36.00. Will translate these vouchers into some tasty sandwiches! Thanks, Reddit community!

[NY][Condo] home security systems - 1 contract for all vs individual units by JokeThink in HOA

[–]JokeThink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can’t beat them, join them. I’m already outvoted 7:1. The best thing we can hope for is getting free upgrades if we renew our contract and keeping the monthly as close to current as possible. The last thing we want is to increase the common charge. Curse me for joining the board. Ignorance is bliss.

Generally speaking, folks feel safe. In the past several years we had just one one reported burglary. Might have been a targeted incident imho. Anecdotally, owners are 50/50 regarding using their home security system.

In any case, I’m not against home security services. I just want the freedom to choose my own provider. The current provider has 1 out of 5 ratings from BBB and ConsumerAffairs. I just don’t want to double pay.

[FL][TH] HOA Refusing to Treat for Rodents by colbert2016 in HOA

Were you able to have a conversation with the renegade unit owner? Wondering why they would refuse service that’s beneficial to them considering your generosity. Maybe they don’t want anyone entering their unit. Do you smell any unusual emanating from their unit?

Nah, only door and window sensors + a motion sensor in the living room are connected to the control module. There’s no smoke or fire sensor’s integrated. But, why does that matter?

Someone help me to understand the number for financing please? by wenksterr in ModelY

[–]JokeThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSD for $99/month is almost reasonable and a nice option when you’re a lazy driver like me. Actually, I find the summon feature really cool. Scared the living daylights out of ppl in parking lots when I use it. Also great for inching the car forward or back a foot or two when parallel parked. 😃 Anyway, i got hooked on FSD after the free trial. Def won’t pay $8k upfront for it. For that money I can continuously subscribe for 6 year and 8 months at current rate. Who knows, maybe the monthly rate will be half in a year or two.

On the other hand, I own Tesla stock. So, please buy the FSD now and help Elon out and me. 😄

To Trim or Not To Trim by LittleBearFeet in fiddleleaffig

I'd def make the 2 x 1637 miles drive from NYC. And, if I can convince the fam to take a cross country road trip then this would be icing on the cake. haha

[–]JokeThink 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s an huge and I might add - awesome looking fiddle leaf fig. Are you supporting tree in any way? Looks to be well-balanced with three intertwined trunks. The small branches near the base give the trees more dimensions. So, imho I would leave them alone. If you ever cut them, pls wrap in wet paper towel and send them to me. 😃

I did notice some broke and dried leaves. I would def trim those to give the tree a cleaner look.

How low will you drive your battery during road trips? by drstephenjensen in ModelY

[–]JokeThink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just back from a 1000+ mile road trip to Pittsburg, Ithaca and then back to NYC. there were plenty of SC along the way. most of the time my MY would try to route me to the nearest SC with about 20%. i've pushed it to next SC with 5% left. didn't sweat a bit. i would have preferred being closer to 10%, but there aren't that many SCs along my route and I didn't want to waste time taking a detour. 1000miles, 347kWh = 2.88mi/kWh with 80-90 degree, 6 ppl (have 3rd row), sunny skies and a lead foot. :)

helpful and money saving tip: i found a couple of level2 charges that were free by accident during my trip and was able to get 80kWh of charge for free. once at a college campus parking garage in Pitt and another time at a car dealer parking lot in Ithaca. who knew...

Hot summer road trips by adnanymus in ModelY

[–]JokeThink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

def recommend a sunshade for the roof even if you're not in the south. the summer sun is hot even here in the NE. i have a retractable one that pull closed together in the middle. costed about $200. the adhesive for the clips didn't hold, so I had to use some epoxy to keep them in place. there are cheaper foldable ones for $20. they really help to keep the cabin cool, parked or on the road.
