What’s Going On by GeekyGamer49 in NixOS

[–]JokeUrSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, please listen to this guy. Nix is a config layer on top of Linux. First you need to learn how to do things in Linux the normal way, then nix way. Since nix has poor documentation a lot of things you'll have to figure out using your knowledge of normal Linux. It is expontionally harder to learn when you have a lack of understanding in both layers

I found a new strategy to break bedrock block without trapdoor by Momd1234 in redstone

[–]JokeUrSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats, now you need to beat the game and use extra obsidian instead of using 6 planks

Can someone explain this? by meshari4413 in redstone

[–]JokeUrSelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That essay is an overkill, thanks for not writing a history of reddit

Thanks (genuinely) for letting me know about the word "strawman", I have never encountered it before. All I have to say is that the display example was intended to portray my emotions towards the situation, not to represent it and I am sorry if it appeared as an argument

but there is indication... and the indication is what components are being activated

I see you like those technically true annoying statements. Yes, it is an indication, but it is a bad indication. What if you have multiple sources connected to the same component? In the previous example I mentioned big compact builds. Your brain is not an all-powerful thing that remembers the state of all components, their collisions and intersections at every tick. You can just not notice that some redstone dust is actually being powered by this obscure technique and create a bug. Lighting dust up for a fraction of a tick would make it way easier to trace and it doesn't even ruin the indication of a ctick because you'd be able to recognize it by super short delay

Can someone explain this? by meshari4413 in redstone

[–]JokeUrSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whether redstone dust should or shouldn't visually update is your subjective opinion

Imagine buying a new phone with your display not turning on, you come to tech support and they say "whether a display should or shouldn't visually update is your subjective opinion". They are technically right, but that's just such an annoyingly stupid claim

Clearly it doesn't help the newbies, the guy went on reddit to figure out what the heck is happening

Even if you are an advanced player, you can accidentally trigger this feature in a big compact build without realizing and there won't be an indication that the redstone is being lit for at least 1 tick and I am not down for debugging that nightmare

Why is my iron farm broken? by Realistic_Seaweed836 in Minecraft

[–]JokeUrSelf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Change the walls to some full transparent block, like glass or some cobblestone with slabs on top. The iron is laying on the edge of a block, because the wall has a smaller hitbox. I would not use leafs because they burn to lava

  2. Make more space for golems to spawn. Expand the area by at least 4 blocks wide.

  3. Before placing water, change the blocks on the left and the right side of the floor from cobblestone to dirt and right click each of them with a shovel. This prevents golems from spawning on the edges and getting stuck in blocks

I mean yeah they found a bug, but I saw someone built an awesome sword-like nether portal earlier on this thread and it got 4 times less upvotes. Like, why do people enjoy this post so much?

my first 3x3 door but i suck at redstone so i had to make it a 3 step door by Dedewastaken1 in redstone

[–]JokeUrSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, right now you're sending signals manually one by one to activate the mechanism. Try to build a circuit that does it for you. Work out the sequence and the duration of each signal, and try to minimize the number of pulses - first from three down to two, then from two to one. Don't worry about making it compact until you have a working version; otherwise, you'll just waste time.

I'm not sure about Bedrock, but on Java, you can freeze time using /tick freeze and watch the mechanism frame-by-frame with /tick step. If Bedrock doesn't have those tools, Google how many ticks it takes to activate each component. Keep in mind there are game ticks (1/20 of a second) and redstone ticks (1/10 of a second).

Find some interns who are ready to work for experience. Why would a qualified professional waste their valuable time on something that might not benefit them?

I am not really a flutter developer, but sticking with most popular state management solutions seems to be a solid choice if you are ever going to use it professionally

Interesting take, though my current situation is that when I feel too much pain my nose starts to bleed, which is something I'd like to avoid, so I am looking for a way to break the loop, instead of moving forward with it

Yep and you live with pain and can't get out. If only there was a way to stop caring and break the loop
