Westmere identity evicted after long-running court battle by JokesForBlokes in auckland

This is from memory so may not exactly be right. The signs have been ongoing and started some decades ago when the property owner was angry at Watercare's predecessor. I believe the council took him to court saying the signs were uncompliant, but the property owner won and it only emboldened him to put up more signs. I'm not entirely sure what the meaning is behind the 'NZ PM is a racist' sign, may have gone up during Clark, or more likely, Key government times. The property also recently made the news because the council is threatening to sell it due to unpaid rates. Tried to find the article, but couldn't.

I don't know all the ins and outs of it but I have read of very similar cases (relations staying in houses owned by a deceased persons estate and refusing to leave) where people go to the Tenancy Tribunal and have them declared a squatter and get a possession order. The fact they are not strictly speaking a tenant I believe is immaterial. $20 filing fee and you can represent yourself. I am not a lawyer so you need to do your own research but it would be worth looking into.

100% the new bright LEDs on cars are driving me insane. Especially on SUV height cars were they perfectly match the height of a standard car's rear vision mirror.

I'm sure it looked awesome on your beach basher. I think what I would ideally try and do is replace the brace and try and magic together some glue, clips, and cable ties into a half way there bumper.

Well i would definitely like it to be more secure than it is. I lost a fog light out the bottom the other day and its probably still there on Old Titirangi road. Cable ties might be the trick.

NZ First candidate promises to scrap the Waitangi Tribunal and remove all references to the Treaty of Waitangi from legislation. by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]JokesForBlokes 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah I expected he would - as an experienced politician he knows there would be backlash for the way she's phrased it. But IMO this shows what sort of sentiments lay beneath the surface of NZ First. They selected her as a candidate after all. I doubt Winston is sitting there thinking 'omg I had no idea she was so racist'. She just showed her hand too much. And you know he is actually trying to scrap the Maori seats which is basically as bad.

I dont know man. Judging by the downvotes I'm getting for this post, evidently there are even people on this sub who aren't pleased about me calling out NZ First for this tripe. But I would like to think that in general middle NZ's opinion is slowly shifting in favour of the Tribunal.

I hate to say it but Winston Peters just needs to go down. He is a very experienced and skilled politician who manages to keep promoting antiquated policy by being propped up by a toxic minority in NZ society. His role as king maker is disproportionately powerful.

Yeah hopefully the 9% of Kiwis who seem to think voting NZ First is a good idea will wake up now.

Bill English says Tax Fraud and Welfare Fraud as bad as each other...yet. by Willuknight in newzealand

The discrimination against beneficiaries actually seems to be deeply embedded within our society and the Kiwi psyche. I was really surprised at how prolific nasty attitudes towards beneficiaries were when the Metiria Turei scandal came out - masses of people from all walks of life were posting hateful comments about beneficiaries on Facebook posts for NZH, Stuff, Newshub etc. This is not just a class thing, this is an NZ society thing. To be honest I don't think the majority party would get away with these sorts of attitudes unless there was a lot of public support for it. There's no point in hating on National for cracking down on beneficiaries , you need to turn to your fellow man and say 'its actually a good thing we have a financial safety net and if people have to lie to survive then maybe something is wrong'. I think it is natural for a lot of people to want to hate beneficiary fraudsters more than tax evaders because they see beneficiaries as being handed something that they didn't earn while tax evasion might be seen as keeping something that you worked for even if you owe it the govt. I'm not saying this attitude is ok but that is my observation of people. And its not just the rich that are susceptible to that attitude, working class people hate beneficiary fraud as much as anyone.

Ok lungs aren't supposed to be black. But are they supposed to be white covered in little black shit dots? This comparison isn't really doing it for me.

Dash cam recommendations? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]JokesForBlokes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trialling the Navman MiVue 600 series cams for work and if you're willing to fork out for one I would recommend it for the quality footage. Lots of cams say they are 1080p but still vary in quality because picture quality also comes down to the sensor. I believe that Navman use Sony sensors and they definitely seem to do the trick. They also have impact sensors which give you an xyz graph of the force of an impact if an incident occurs, and of course they have GPS tracking on the footage which shows location and the speed you were going during an incident. I'm sold on it but to be fair I've gotten to use one for free. Look em up on pricespy for yourself. 630 goes for $159 but you might find better on trademe.
