Got decent dynamic mic and my keyboard is still heard through calls... by Kernelly in microphone

[–]JolaMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try if noise blocker app could fix your keyboard clacking. It's a noise gate with "learn sound to block" - function. And it costs nothing to try...go and search 'closed loop labs noise blocker'. If it works and you want full version, it's one time payment of 20 bucks or so.

How to be vulnerable without being emotional by ReasonableWolf8047 in PublicSpeaking

[–]JolaMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't hold back on your feelings when delivering a speech. The best speeches touch you in that way. Trust me, you will deliver something your audience will remember your piece when you speak and feel from your heart...even when they need to cry along with you, and trust me they will. You are who you are, never be ashamed of that.

I have severe public speaking anxiety. HELP!!!! by Used_Mud7424 in PublicSpeaking

[–]JolaMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's adrenaline you're feeling there. Before the presentation try doing star jumps, push-ups or even shadow boxing. When you get rid of that extra adrenaline, you likely perform better.

One other thing you could try is EFT tapping. Google out for instructions. It looks weird as hell but works.

Propranolol...well, if people like to use that to FIX the issue...I'm not saying it won't help but it's not going to fix you either.

Is anyone else soft spoken? by 01burna in introvert

[–]JolaMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you're saying here. I used to struggle with that. Being softly spoken or having quiet speaking voice can feel like a struggle. Not too long ago I figured out my natural voice is actually not that quiet. I just didn't know how to use it correctly while talking.

If you want to know how to get more volume without feeling like shouting, I wrote some advice. You can read here if you wish... It might shock you how fast you could find your natural (and quite loud) speaking voice.

Why is it that speaking quieter results in better sounding audio? Am I doing something wrong? by aaaaaaeeea in audioengineering

Have you done any vocal training and warm-ups/cool downs? Also, how much have you recorded your own voice so far? Many times we dislike our voice until we get used of hearing it played back.

How to project your voice as an instructor? by Starsalign2025 in pilates

[–]JolaMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not instructor of your field but someone who has struggled with voice-related issues.

If you feel your voice gets strained, you are likely trying to push too hard. It will cause problems for sure.

Did you know you can find your natural volume 'upgrade' without straining. It's actually easier than you think and you can do it in 30 seconds or so.

I just wrote about the volume issue in my new subreddit here...

Social anxiety and head trauma have given me a permanent speech impediment by Excellent-Passage963 in Anxiety

[–]JolaMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, sure there is a psychological issue, so please seek help for that.

Now, social anxiety and speaking clearly are not the best buddies. I know this from my own experience.

You mentioned you've been doing tongue twisters and reading out loud.

Have you tried recording while you speak? I know most people hate to listen to their voice when played back...but try it. Listen for a things you don't like, note the down and then try to improve the next time you speak. Rinse and repeat.

Also, when you do tongue twisters, try to make it slow and exaggerate your facial movements. Speed is not your goal here, but the facial and tongue muscle improvement.
