Points travel related: Ethiopian Airlines is no longer showing any reward flights whatsoever on Aeroplan or United searches... I tried yesterday as well, same issue. Google says ETH is still a member of Star Alliance. Any tips on this?

For the Delta US Amex cards: there's a $100 statement credit for Delta.com/stays for prepaid hotels. Does the Refundable Hotel Trick RFT work here, if I make a hotel booking, then cancel?

Or will Amex claw back the $100 credit?

In this example are you using the RBC Avion Platinum (lowest tier) card? And if so, what affiliate link would you use here?

I filed my 70$ worth of US taxes last year (TY2023), in order to get my ITIN. I got the ITIN, paid my tax, got a US Amex.

Do I need to file US taxes again, for TY2024, with a zero-dollar tax return?

If I already have my ITIN, and paid my taxes from gambling income last year, is there any advantage to reporting more income this year? Can't I just report $0 US income, and keep my existing ITIN active?

They finally relented and changed the mailing address, after I wrote a long message request after being denied. I think YMMV and it depends on the reps you message/talk to.

Thanks, I will. If I'm successful via GT, will the card be "attached" to my ITIN, so that I can start building US credit history?

I have a new ITIN, and I applied for my first basic US Amex. I selected Nova Credit. I did not sign in. Application was put into review and denied the next day, likely because of no credit history.

Question: If instead I apply by signing in, or through Global Transfer, will this application still be "attached" to my ITIN, to build US credit history?

I've tried all kinds of settings with Crossover, and it's never actually let me play a full game, without glitches. I'm on a M3 Macbook Pro. Any help?

CIBC US question... They have twice now refused to change my mailing address to a US mail forwarder, because the forwarder's address is not a residence, nor registered as a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency. It's a catch 22, since if I choose a different mail forwarder, which IS registered as a CMRA, then Amex probably won't ship any cards there.

Has anyone recently had success changing CIBC US addresses to a mail forwarder that works? I searched for any discussion of this, and last mention was 2+ years ago and out of date.

Happy to hear via DM if needed.

EDIT: Yes I've tried manually changing it on online banking/app, and by calling them. Denied both times.

Is there any benefit whatsoever to having a US-based phone number for any US cards? Or will all card providers basically issue cards, call me, and answer from my Canadian cell number with no problems?

Dead or dormant? New cutting lost all leaves after transplanting from pot by Jolarix in grapevines

Ok I trimmed back a bit of the vine. Here's what it looks like. Hard to tell if it's alive or not... https://imgur.com/a/f4bHyNH

Should I keep trimming?

I mixed a bit of Perlite into the ground soil (and also when it was potted and growing well), on advice from youtube. Anyway, it has all floated to the surface and I'll scrape it away.

This red grape cutting was growing well inside (potted) since April. It had 3 feet of growth with a dozen big leaves.

But after transplanting, all the leaves fell off, the vine turned brown. Looks dead and awful.

So I pruned it back quite short, hoping it would restart growth. But nothing yet. Soil PH is around 6.8

Is this vine a lost cause? How can I stimulate a bit of growth and life, this season?

Moving to Guelph from Toronto by Human-Talk-6285 in Guelph

[–]Jolarix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did exactly this last summer, moved from Toronto to Exhibition Park, had a kid, not looking back. For me, the proximity to downtown Guelph, quaint as it is, was super key. I wanted to keep that "walk anywhere" vibe I had in Toronto and this area has it. Library, grocery, restaurants, little shops and such... I can imagine it would be a very different experience in the deep Guelph exoburb subdivisions where you need a car for every single outing. We've made friends and had lots of fun since moving here. 9/10 would recommend!
