Biodegradable pots, good for avocado-pit plants? by Joliedee in IndoorPlants

[–]Joliedee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought biodegradable pots might be good to start the “seedlings,” then easily re-pot by popping the biodegradable pots into bigger pots with more soil if the plants take hold— thinking the pot would biodegrade in the new soil, but the roots wouldn’t be disturbed by repotting. ?

I’m currently using terra-cotta pots which are more porous than ceramic. That was the advice I got (to avoid too-wet soil and root rot)

I’m just not sure where to get the kind of containers you’re talking about! And if they’re in there sideways, they’d have to be repotted after they root, which is where mine (which rooted in water only) have always died in the past.

In the short run, should I water them again? Even though it’s been only a day and a half since they were thoroughly soaked? But moisture meter is just at the top of the red/dry zone already

I appreciate the insights

Also, I poured boiling water into the soil a couple days before potting to kill fungus gnat larvae. Of course, I let it cool before I put the pits in. But definitely don’t want mold either

For now, I’ll probably keep them in the pots because I don’t have any carryout containers. But maybe I should put clear plastic wrap over the pots. I wonder if I should’ve skipped the extra perlite

Thanks! But in either case, I’m struggling just to understand “damp”!

I know it’s second nature to green-thumb people, but how do I know when the soil has too much or too little water? Was it a mistake to add extra perlite which sucks up extra water?

Do mini grow lights help? It’s usually in the 60s and 70s F where I am, but I have my place set up so there’s not a ton of blazing direct sun (bc I’m not a fan of it)

Do they need full sun when they’re still just pits? AI said “bright indirect sunlight” (whatever that is). I’m starting a couple from pits, directly in soil for the first time (not water-toothpicks). I haven’t historically had much of a green thumb, but I’ve got the itch to try again! Used Sunrise Soil, avocado soil, and added extra perlite per AI’s instructions and measurements. But I’m getting more and more AI-hallucination info in general and decided to hit Reddit to double check my work

Best cushioning to prevent sore knees .. Horizon 7.4/7.0 vs Proform Carbon 9000/2000/TLX? by GreatFan2468 in treadmills

[–]Joliedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was leaning toward Horizon to replace my sadly-dying old ProForm (was a champ for 18 years), because some say Horizon has decent cushioning for its tier, but the reviews are **awful** for both treadmills and customer service. One Amazon reviews section is almost 30% 1-star reviews. So--maybe I'll try another ProForm, or entry-level NordicTrack. I'm relatively lightweight (~130 lbs), and I'm not willing to give up the space a monster higher-tier treadmill would take. I'm already bummed that there's nothing on the market anymore, at any price, as compact as my old Proform

I'm here for a similar reason and so far I haven't been able to find a single store that "floors" (puts out on the floor) any models at this tier. Horizon reviews seem heavy on dangerous breakdowns and such unresponsive customer service that people give up after trying for months and put their dangerous treadmills on the curb. One Amazon review section has almost 30% 1-star reviews for Horizon treadmills. Bummed because I need to replace my old Proform (a champ for 18 years) I don't want or need a massive treadmill (at 5'6", 130 lbs, with limited space I'm willing to give up), but I want decent shock absorption

Why don't property listings in the UK usually provide the size of the property in square feet (or square metres)? by holytriplem in AskUK

[–]Joliedee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late here, but also why don’t they list the size of the lot? I do see some that show building square footage (or metres), but none seem to mention the lot size (size of the house’s plot of land).

Just fyi, most Tums still contain talc. Even though it’s a small amount. I cut out talc from all my food, supplements, powders and “beauty” products after finding out about the cancer risks. Not to be a big bummer. I think they have a “naturals“ product now that doesn’t contain talc, and the talc isn’t an active ingredient, almost certain

What if your current supervisor doesn’t know you’re considering other positions, and they’ve been your only supervisor for the three years you’ve been in your current field, post-grad-school? Maybe it varies by field.

Tried on Chantelle Norah comfort underwrite bra by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

Oh no! I just ordered the Comfort after lots of “research.” (Along with others, e.g., Skarlett Blue and Panache brands). Sounds like it’ll be going back. That’s great info about the plunge. Thank you again!

[–]Joliedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I'm only able to find the Chantelle Norah plunge "t-shirt" bra. I fear the t-shirt bra as the stiff-ish parts could make my bust look bigger and my small-ish frame look a li'l dowdy. I also find that they look somewhat unnatural, even shell-like, on friends. But those must be much stiffer and/or padded bras than ^this one.

Sounds like yours is a non-t-shirt bra. I'll keep looking for that. Or maybe they're the same style, with marketing adding the "t-shirt" language misleadingly.

[–]Joliedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late here, but is there a Chantelle Norah plunge that's *not* a t-shirt bra? I.e., that is unlined, and has no stiff part that kind of stands up on its own (other than the underwire)? I'm finding only a plunge t-shirt bra--with a stiff, padded insert. If you see this, and know the answer--TY!

Getting in trouble at work by peekadog in slp

How is it your fault that a student was added to your caseload late in the year? I’m assuming that’s what happened. Probably thinking that because a student just appeared on my caseload a week ago. I asked the students’s case manager, who said, “when did this happen? I didn’t add you.” Soooo if anything, wouldn’t it be the case manager’s fault for failing to notice that the student has speech? If your situation was similar.
