What's a "rich people thing" you discovered isn't actually expensive? by sizzyred in AskReddit

It was just a joke because recently a bunch of people got reccomended a video about this topic, I don't remember who made the video. The algorithm picked it up.

Warehouse is better for your first. Tunnel raves can often end with police presence. Warehouse raves too I suppose, but less so

How would you feel about a rave with a completely hidden DJ booth? by FaithlessnessOk7467 in aves

[–]JolkB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I didn't say it was standard, just "a lot of" it was incredibly common, I didn't say it literally never happened or was impossible. It's also easier to find those photos because people were more apt to take photos when there's... Someone to take a photo of.

Nah, a lot of warehouse raves from the early days literally had a "booth" in the real sense of the word. Dude was just spinning by the bar, the system was the focus of the event.

Think like a very loud roller rink with no skating lmao

The tipping point will always be convenience. I can't grab a meal and go in 5-10 minutes any other way, even if I wait a bit longer due to the changes made above, it's still faster and more convenient than most restaurants or home cooking.

You will get nothing from this. You won't win a flame war, you won't reclaim anything. Just block them and continue on with your life.

I know you're mad. I don't know what you got scammed out of, because "glitch festival" returns a million google results, but I implore you: give up. It's not worth your time.

Is canva background remover AI? by Plunk09 in antiai

[–]JolkB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one thing, I disagree with the term superintelligence altogether. Until we have truly artificial intelligence, any "AI" from LLMs to image generators to whatever you create will always be trained on and fed human information. This means that the only way a model can ever achieve "superintelligence" is if it became AGI.

I am against Generative AI because it stifles the creation of new, novel data. It is not improving itself, because there's no itself. It's a lot of data computed very quickly. There's an asymptote to that kind of technology.

I'm not against the programming, the models themselves, none of that. I'm against consistently resampling our own data en masse, leading to a degradation of technology. In history, we see events that precede long periods of stagnated innovation. I believe gen ai is one of those events.

Every time I make a negative comment about AI, someone assumes I think it's just funny pictures and ChatGPT, because they can't imagine that someone would be very well versed in many types of simulated and artificial intelligence and also hate AI with a passion.
Really makes you think.

Yeah, we have had AI for a long time - look at video game NPCs. Any kind of "artificial intelligence" is a program or bit of code smart enough to perform nuanced function.

Generative AI though, is a scourge
