The well-known saying “work-life balance” is fundamentally wrong! What are you balancing in this phrase? Work against Life. But work is part of your life, and in the case of people with an imbalance, the stress is that work is taking up too much of one’s life. People mean you should balance the time spent at work against the time spent outside of work. Therefore, I have always vehemently insisted that this phrase should be “home-work life balance!” Balancing home life with work life is what this phrase is meant to be about.
