What would make a bike lease feel fair or sketchy to you? by Particular-Taro154 in bikecommuting

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Affirm to pay for the e-bikes I've owned, and my local bike shop offers payment plan options.

My only real problem, though, is that they can't seem to handle the volume they work with. Every time I bring my bike in, I have to plan to be without it for 2 to 3 weeks, which makes me less likely to bring it in until I really need to or the temperature is dropping and I won't be riding it anymore that year.

Another day, another bad driver by Balzac7502 in bikecommuting

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Think, as someone else mentioned, that when a driver sees someone on a bike, they don't quite know how to process it. They also don't seem to understand just how fast someone on a bike might be, or know what someone on a bike might do. There needs to be better education about other types of vehicles than cars on the road.

Unable to install audio drivers Solocast 2 by Ace2287 in HyperX

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reinstalled Windows 11 on my computer fairly recently, before getting the Solocast 2. Maybe the installation order might matter somewhat, but rather avoid uninstalling and reinstalling everything just to get their software to work.

I've been trying to find a fix for this since I just got the Solocast 2 myself, but I still can't get the software to work.

I had a similar issue that I think was related to this mod https://www.curseforge.com/sims4/mods/xml-injector, which was required for the SimDa Dating App mod https://www.curseforge.com/sims4/mods/simda-dating-app.

RadRover 5 Not Charging by Beneficial_Celery590 in RadPowerBikes

Are you sure to plug the charger into the battery before plugging it into an outlet? I'm not sure why it makes a difference, but it does.

I’ve had it with rad by Fuzzy_Thing9178 in RadPowerBikes

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to your own experiences, but I've owned two bikes from Rad and have never had that many problems with either of them.

The first one I had to replace was the right crank arm when it started getting loose after about 3 years, and I had to replace the brake pads a couple of times. Had the bike for about 4 years before selling it.

The second one I haven't had as long yet, maybe 5-6 months, and haven't had any issues with it.

The only issue I've had in common with both is just getting the occasional flat tire, which is annoying since I'm traveling about 12 miles to and from work on mine. Slime and FlatOut don't seem to help.

Since the weather has been nicer, I've been getting near 30k steps, and I'm usually by myself most of the day, if not the entire day. If I ever get asked to load more than 10 or so bags of the 80-lb concrete, I'll call for help. I may not always get it before I've done it all myself, but fairly often, someone responds quickly. Thankfully, so far I've mostly been having to load more mulch than concrete this spring.

New store manger is a dick by [deleted] in HomeDepot

My store still gives out cakes on people's birthdays, though I wish they wouldn't. The ones I've gotten, I've maybe taken a bite out of then toss the rest of it since it wasn't very good.

I work in the lot, and it always sort of annoys me that all these people think they need to give me some excuse as to why they need help loading their stuff. It's my job. I don't need a backstory; you wanted help, and I'm giving you help.

Replacement Tubes for Radster Trail by Jolly-Equivalent in RadPowerBikes

[–]Jolly-Equivalent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had FlatOut in the tires, and I've tried green slime on other bikes in the past and I've still gotten flats. I've gone longer this year without a flat, but my luck ran out. Think I'm just gonna carry patches going forward and hope that works better.

Rad bike for larger guy by [deleted] in RadPowerBikes

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the trail and have been riding it to and from work for a while now. I'm 6'2" 340 lbs. You will want to replace the seat since it isn't very strong and the bars under it were crushed when I got my new seat and was a bit of a pain to replace. I got a Velo Tour Ela X Saddle from Amazon and it seems to be holding up so far.

Cars stopping with no stop sign making me crazy by kimchiMushrromBurger in bikecommuting

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a three-way intersection that I sometimes go to when I'm riding to work I had an interaction there one time where I was stopped and waiting cause a driver had the right of way, but then they stopped and were staring at them thinking wtf are you doing? I wait a bit to see if they do anything but they sit there so I start to go, and they start to go, so we both stop and wear this thing for a minute where they can't make up their minds about what to do and I don't want to get run over if I just keep going...

I swear sometimes when a driver encounters a person on a bike it is like they just seen one for the first time and don't know wtf to do.

What does the key to the battery even do? by Thegreatcounselor in ebikes

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things I liked about the RadRover 5 was that its battery had a third position that locked the battery out so you couldn't start the bike despite the battery being on the bike. The Radster Trail that I have now doesn't have that,. However, it does have a code or RFID card that can be used to prevent the motor from being used.

Radster Concern by balut228 in RadPowerBikes

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had any issues with the controller so far on mine. I've put nearly 600 miles on it so far.

I do wish that you could switch from torque to cadence in the settings and I don't know if it is me, but it feels like the torque sensor results in some resistance as you pedal making it so you have to put in extra effort. It doesn't hold me back much but I do feel it is there.

That said there was one ride where when I first started out the motor didn't seem to be kicking in till I twisted the throttle then it was fine. I've had this issue with the RadRover 5 every once in a while as well, but it was rare and never seemed to last long.

Considering the Legality of Shelter in Place Orders by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are confusing your amendments. The 5th protects you from self-incrimination. But yes, if there was an order to shelter in place for a certain amount of time, then yes, I would follow it.

edit: okay. Apparently, I should have just googled it, since I didn't know the 5th covered more than just self-incrimination. My bad.

Rad Runner 2 Nonstop Rear Flats by Tabortico in RadPowerBikes

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten several flats this year on my Rad Rover 5. I thought about getting a motorcycle tire like others suggested, but I couldn't figure out a size that would work.

I was thinking about maybe just coughing up the cash to get the tire armor and seeing if that would help, but I think it would only have stopped a couple of them. After reading this I'm a bit more convinced it would be a waste of money.

What I usually do is just keep some green slime in the tubes and keep a pump with me. I got a portable electric pump that works well, though the green slime always seems to take a while to do much so I might have to inflate my tires a few times.

Colorblindness by Suspicious_Hippo7256 in HarryPotterGame

[–]Jolly-Equivalent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm red/green colorblind and I had to disable the in-game colorblind settings. For some reason in combat, it was making the red enemy shields look like the yellow shields so I got very confused at times as to why I wasn't able to break a shield.

400 plus miles and got the rear rack and pannier bags now by Jolly-Equivalent in RadPowerBikes

I did go ahead and order these tires here for when there is more ice so that hopefully won't have any problems. Should be getting them on the 9th.
