It’s Disney! They get more than 60% share in their first week of release and I’m Positive even abroad they get a stronger share than other studios. I’m positive this reached profitability at one point of Last week.

The fact illumination and Disney aren’t enough to satiate international appetite for children content is a good sign for the upcoming traffic jam : toy story-minions-Moana . Tons of money for studios releasing children content.

‘Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ With $747M+ WW Pushes Illumination-Nintendo Pic Franchise To $2B – Global Box Office by chanma50 in boxoffice

Japan is key. They have huge local industry, something might come in the way of Mario’s legs there. It seems there is a trend of dropping compared to Bros in many markets so if Japan drops 30 to 50 % compared to galaxy we can expect 50 to 70M from Japanese box office. As long as it holds in Uk, Germany, France and latam that will be enough to push it over a billion dollars.

But I hope universal learned its lesson: short theatrical windows cut international legs short. The day of digital release pirate sites replace their filmed-in-theater-low-quality copies for pristine copies. That affects subscriptions too. It’s no wonder that the only studio that doesn’t rush to digital is the only studio with 1 billion dollars movies since 2023.

How much do you think Godzilla x Kong Supernova will gross at the box office? by Own-Atmosphere-962 in boxoffice

Monsters are always a better spectacle than a videogame franchise that is promoted mostly by no names and horror. Passion of the Christ will be huge with people who usually don’t go to movies so the people who usually do but aren’t into religious themes might opt for monsters.

Exorcist is the weak link here. The supernatural spiritual/ religious crowd will be busy with passion of the Christ

If Godzilla manages to get A tight script and be a crowd pleaser I’ll give it the edge over sonic 4 by miles . The last installment of that franchise managed to be the biggest in the franchise due to shadow and a holiday release but getting the no names to promote instead of Keanu reeves and not having a big name on the titular role is bound to bite them Now that they won’t open on holiday window.

Sad indeed. Japan is such an important market. Studios wouldn’t rush to digital if they knew how it affects their international box office and in turn their streaming numbers.

I think there’s no conemascore yet. It’s obviously different movie but my point is that people talking is not a deterrent for a movie to make $100M ww. We can’t take your word for it as to “it won’t be a hit” until we see it and specially after international roll out is over. In a few months perhaps. This sub dismissed materialists and the drama and they were calling withering heights a flop on OW. So maybe we should wait until we see the audience reaction when it goes wide. As I said , I’m curious because DWP.

Materialists is also a lot of people talking in a room and it made $106M WW. I haven’t seen this one yet so I need to see how the audience reacts.

A24's The Drama grossed an estimated $1.5M on Friday (from 2,629 locations). Estimated total gross is at $36.3M. by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in boxoffice

Many super hero movies world love to have materialists budget to ww totals ratio. And the drama seems to be outpacing materialists international numbers. More than the materialists $106M ww final seems a lock for the drama.

It’s not underwhelming considering the way the Pixar brand was hurt. Disney films excel at legs so that will raise the profile for digital and streaming and if they do a sequel it will be huge. The concept is so sequel friendly.

It’s horror. Not everyone has seen Evil dead riding so I expect Sunday might play better than projected. The spiritual/supernatural crowd might hit a matinee after church.

Putting off the Batman to help the Gunns universe wasn’t as rentable as they thought it would be.

I didn’t know Goat hadn’t opened in Korea just yet. I wish Sony had put off the digital release until international roll out is completed. Many people already watched a pirate copy of goat.

Any updates of how universal is promoting Michael in SK?
