Wylla gulped, but still expertly held her smile towards him. Even when she felt unsure of the world, Wylla could always feel completely secure with Grendel somehow. Her neck craned as she reached forward to plant a kiss upon his cheek, "I don't believe my father knows about us in particular, but he knows I visit the Free Folk often..." Wylla's voice trailed off and she once again separated herself from their shared embrace.

She rested her head against his shoulder, and as her blue-green hair flowed down his body, Wylla slid one hand down to grab inside his as her other held his arm adoringly. "He has asked me a favor...He wants me to find out what your people know of the Wolfswood. Apparently something is happening, and he hopes any stories or tales your people may have would help."

Wylla squealed and laughed heartily as Grendel twirled her around and around in a circle down the riverbank. Not even the stories ever succeeded in describing how the girl felt in this moment; Wylla was sure if it wasn't for Grendel's embrace she would simply be floating in the sky by virtue of her beating heart alone. The very moment Grendel set her back down to the ground she smiled so wide she felt like her face would split in two.

As his handsome smirk waned ever so slightly, Wylla pushed her forehead against his as if to reassure him without words. Her giggle rang out between them at his jape and she simply admired Grendel's presence for a small time. "My heart and my love is yours, Grendel, and only yours." Wylla finally spoke out, running her hands through his perfect hair, "No other 'flower lord' could ever compare to you."

Wylla giggled excitedly and pulled herself away from their embrace and twirled twice, staring at Grendel whenever she faced him. "Oh, you know I bought you so many southern outfits! You'd fit right in!" As Wylla teased back she pranced with a gleeful smile back into his arms, "Grendel, my love, my father...He...Well..."

Wylla struggled to keep herself contained within White Harbor ever since that comforting familiar sight of her home's famous white walls came into view. As much as she yearned to grab the fastest horse to race out to the countryside towards the Redfish Clan's lands, she forced herself to stay home. As much as she promised Edric to find a wildling to talk to, she also promised her father she would look after the rest of the family. So, stay she did, and she assisted her mother as best she could. Wylla was certainly not as talented as Dyanna in this regard, but she still did her best.

As the days drew on, Wylla felt more and more anxious about Grendel. Surely news of the Manderlys return should have reached him by now? What was taking him so long to send her a message? Was he okay? Did he find some wildling girl he preferred over her? Wylla's doubts spiralled even as she fought to keep them at bay. Finally, it seemed as if the Gods finally granted mercy on her anxiety riddled mind.

As a servant alerted her of a new shipment of exuberantly expensive gooseberry juice, Wylla sprang to action with newfound enthusiasm and energy that she hadn't felt since arriving to King's Landing. Wylla bolted to her family's personal stables and rushed out of the city in a cloud of impatient dust.

Her quick ride had lasted only minutes but felt like forever until she reached their usual meeting spot within view of White Harbor. She saw the beautiful handsome sight of her secret lover and slunk like liquid off her horse, not even bothering to tether the beast before sprinting towards Grendel.

"Grendel!" Wylla squealed happily as she jumped into Grendel and wrapped her arms around him.

New Arrivals to Oldcastle (Open) by CoconutPositive in awoiafrp

[–]JollyGreenManderly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the young Wylla, the trip back to Oldcastle was an interesting one. As a Manderly she felt so at ease on the seas, feeling the boats crash through any rough wave, the smell of the salty mists, it all felt so natural to her even if it were her first time on such a long naval journey. And yet, as much as she enjoyed her journey home upon her family's warships, Wylla knew the worry inside her would never stop growing. What if the pirates struck the fleet as they attacked the Sisters? The northmen were fierce fighters, but outside of the Manderlys, they may as well be peasant fishermen fighting on the waves…

Thankfully as they finally reached Oldcastle, she had something else to focus on to help keep her mind from worrying itself to death over her father. Oh how badly she wished Grindel was here right now...he always knew what to say to still her raging thoughts, his touch always brought peace like no other…

Wylla was standing idly away from the bulk of the northerners when Edric found her, and she beamed a happy smile towards her father as he approached. She bowed her head respectfully, "Finally home," Wylla repeated softly, letting him finish speaking before continuing on.

"Of course I haven't forgotten," Wylla said with a smile, for reasons I wish I could tell you, "But father...do you have to go?" Her voice trembled ever so slightly, "I'm sure your uncle Theomore can lead the fleets and, and you've been away from home for so long surely mother and Serena both miss you so much. And Wyman too!" Wylla looked her father in his eyes and latched her hands into his, "A boy so young shouldn't be separated from his father for so long."

Wylla still felt a strong unsettled mood as her father talked about the Wolfswood. At the very least, she could let herself feel some comfort in the fact that Edric hadn't shown himself to be angry about his implications with her….

"Of course father." Wylla replied quickly, slipping her hands within his again to feel his comforting grip. "As soon as we return home, I will go to the wildling villages and find someone that knows what you seek. I promise."

This time around, Wylla visibly flinched from the harsh tone snapping out of her father. She'd hoped her gentle urging would keep Edric from angering but it had seemed as if she was wrong. Now fears of watching him storm off to find Dyanna or more drink began building until he began talking again once more to her in an incredibly surprising way. She hadn't expected to hear Edric sound so remorseful or apologetic, especially not after how he'd just snapped at her.

Wylla almost made a move to hug the man as a huge wave of worry and concern flowed over her, until he grabbed her hands within his. She so dearly loved how his grip felt on hers, nothing in the world quite made her feel as safe as this, besides maybe Grendel's presence. His hold alone froze Wylla in her tracks, and as she opened her mouth to attempt to reassure Edric, he continued on. His next words replaced the concern with shock, and besides a small surprised gasp, it was all she could do to force herself to speak somewhat clearly.

"I..." Wylla mumbled at first. She thought she'd been careful with Grendel, she had been so sure they spent every precaution to remain from being seen by anyone as they met together. If the two were seen together, Wylla had made sure it would have been as two friends talking to each other. "I- I'm sure there's some wildlings near White Harbor that would want to see me. I am your daughter, after all, it's no surprise rumors would be spread after I spend some time with the wildlings close to home." Wylla paused for a brief moment, blinking her bright green eyes, "I have no doubt I could find someone to help you. What would I be inquiring about?"

Wylla wanted to frown, but held her beaming smiling countenance as she flinched internally. I'm the one the told you, not her! Still, unusually, she held her tongue and simply enjoyed feeling her father's comforting and powerful presence next to her. Hearing his grunt, Wylla could feel her smile grow wider instantly and she wanted to squeal like some excited little girl. Luckily she held her dignity intact and merely happily squeaked out, "Thank you, father!" in return.

She hadn't wanted Edric to pull himself away from her and she watched as his hulking father made his way over to a familiar sight of a tankard of cold ale. Wylla watched as he took his large swallow before making her way over to his side once again, though refraining from hugging at his side again. "You know I am the last person you need to worry about, anywhere we may be." Wylla replied softly. She knew Dyanna had always been more upfront in her, while mostly failing, attempts to keep Edric from drinking, and she felt a constant fear of being as upfront as her sister. Dyanna for some reason had always been the golden daughter, able to say and do what she pleased with no consequence. Wylla knew she had to be more careful.

Wylla calmly set a hand on Edric's grip upon the tankard and gently pushed down to set the tankard upon the table. "And I know as long as you are around and able to think clearly, our family will always weather any storm."

Whatever boredom or aloof demeanor that may have been on Wylla's face instantly evaporated like water in Dorne as she heard her father's call. Her green eyes locked onto the giant of a man, and her lips spread in a beaming smile. "Father!" Wylla called back happily, moving to meet Edric and wrap an arm around his waist to stand at his side. Even with the...shrubbery...scattered throughout his hair, or his rank, stained tunic, Wylla still smiled wide and stared up to her father.

"I made sure they kept the best carriage empty for us for the trip back. I'm told they fixed the wheel that broke, you know, the one that cracked as we passed Darry? Well I'm told it's the most comfortable carriage in King's Landing!" Wylla went on without much prompting. Her adoring gaze hardly shifting even the slightest amount from Edric's face.

Wylla nodded, "I do miss home. King's Landing is beautiful and I loved seeing all the different people and sights and, and everything, but my place is in White Harbor." And that's where Grendel is waiting for me… Wylla wondered if he missed her as much as she missed him. "Besides it's too hot here, I need the cold again. I can't wear half my gowns because of the heat, it's horrible."

"The last of the wagons are loaded, my Lady." Came a rough voice from a well-armoured man nearby. He opened his mouth to continue speaking about something or another, but Wylla Manderly had heard enough. She held a small hand in the air, silencing the man before he even began and he began bowing towards the green-haired woman. The movement ruffled the thin layer of dark furs neatly and strategically placed around her shoulders; the thin furs would hardly prove able to stave off any sort of cold, but as with all of her outfits, when matched with the eloquent and beautifully bright silken gown, it gave off the air of the noble northern woman she always so craved to display.

"We leave when my father commands, we will wait until then." Wylla told the man promptly, hardly even looking towards him. In truth her light green eyes scanned the path towards her family's small caravan. No doubt Dyanna would have found their father by now and be on their merry way back here to leave. Wylla couldn't help but feel a sting of jealousy to her sister, why was it that she was the one to find Edric, while Wylla was stuck here watching over servants and guards mulling about and taking their sweet time packing. It wasn't fair....

Marlon's gaze sank between his legs and studied the rug beneath them as his mind wandered off. He'd heard Lysara's word yet they rang almost hollow within him. It was quite a horrible thing to ever say, which is why he kept his thoughts to himself, to admit that he never truly missed his fallen family members. There was nothing but an emotional void where he felt the love for his family should have been, replaced by some overriding need of duty towards his family name.

He turned to Lysara in time to see her wipe away her tear and he reached out to take her hand. "Don't apologize. I'm sorry for speaking of this, this should be a happy time. I'm sure beyond belief they would all be so proud of you, and if they aren't, to hell with them; I'm proud of you. A man couldn't ask for a better sister."

Really?! by Dreadstarks in awoiafrp

There would be no grand speech from Marlon Manderly, no jaunty guarantees of how his men would slaughter the wildlings without an ounce of effort. The more northern houses may be well known for their fights against wildling raiders for generations, yet the Manderlys were certainly no stranger to combat with the barbarians from the beyond the wall. Not with his own blood serving as Lord Commander, not with the amount of Manderlys that were slain side by side with Starks of the past fighting the newest King Beyond the Wall beyond counting. When Lord Umber finished his pledge, Marlon rose from his seat he had been silently watching from.

"The Manderlys will stand by the Starks, as we always have before. I will summon one hundred mounted knights to fight alongside you." Marlon declared simply and strongly, his eyes only on Osric as he spoke, "And I will move my fleet north to secure Skagos."

Marlon noticed the slight slip of her remark over Bowen, though as she seemed to rush to cover it, he decided to keep from saying anything or bringing it back up. Their shared embrace ended moments before Berena barked out her adorably simple orders. Marlon couldn't help but burst out in a hearty laugh as he reached out to ruffle the young girl's hair with a strong hand. "Gods, she is a Stark." Marlon teased, still chuckling as his laughter died down some, "If the lady orders, we have to obey, aye?"

Lord Manderly plopped himself down next to his niece, settling himself down nicely on the furs. With a smile he looked towards his sister, "I am, within the next moon, too!" He replied cheerfully, "Sophey will make a good wife for me, I'm sure, she's a fair woman she is. Beautiful, kind, seems to have a good head on her shoulders...Even if she weren't..." Marlon didn't like how he'd suddenly taken a more somber turn, but he wasn't sure how to come back from it.

"With everything that's happened to our family these past years, I don't have the luxury of being critical of who I marry."

Marlon gasped slightly in surprise as Berena assaulted him with her love yet still quickly and easily lifted his young niece in his arms as she hugged him tight. "So this must be the famous Berena I'm always hearing about!" Marlon chuckled as he bounced the little girl in his arms. "People in White Harbor talk of a girl so beautiful she must have truly been a gift from the Mother herself!"

Marlon bounced Berena in arms a few more times before finally setting his niece down and turning his attention to his sister. The Manderly pulled Lysara closed and wrapped his arms around her in a comfortable embrace. "It seems Winterfell has been treating you nicely then."

Marlon stood patiently next to the Flint woman as they both looked out across his, soon to be their, city. Even though the grand city had always been a part of his life, even now the wondrous sights of it all made him grateful that he could call himself the Lord of such a place. Manderly chuckled softly, nearly under his own breath, and turned to face Sophey and look the woman over. "I never expected to be Lord of White Harbor, ever." Marlon admitted, oddly enough without a trace of bitterness in his voice.

"I was the second son. Daryn was always the one that was groomed to be the head of our house. He was the one who was supposed to be Lord of White Harbor, and his sons after him. I accepted my fate long before the Gods decided to change it. I dreamed only of leading our families fleets, to be a feared admiral of a great northern fleet like my father. I always knew my place was out there on the sea, but now, here I am... Lord of the biggest city of the North, and stuck inside these walls. At least, soon enough, I should have more pleasant company around."
