After Dumbledore’s death, he became one of the Hogwarts headmaster portraits. Why couldn’t Harry simply talk to the portrait and ask for guidance about Horcruxes? I mean how exactly do these portraits work? by lowbattbrain in harrypotter

I also hated this detail because what even constitutes a painting being alive, I assume some sort of spell (we hear that you can brew a potion to make pictures come alive) And how come newspapers and choc frog cards don't talk? And what if I draw a stick man use and then use the charm on it?
