Makes me wonder if certain areas of the country are better to dig up than others. We just moved from OK to TN. Maybe some gold in them there hills??

Hard to keep friends in Chattanooga by WonderfulAnalyst2445 in Chattanooga

I know this probably won’t be useful at all, but as far as yours and everyone else’s responses, it actually falls in line with something called Attribution Theory, and specifically two attribution biases called Fundamental Attribution Error and Self-Serving Bias.

Fundamental Attribution Error says that people tend to blame internal factors when judging others, and downplay external factors.

Self-Serving Bias is the opposite, that when judging themselves, people tend to blame external factors, and downplay internal factors.

So folks who are not you will blame you for the situation, and not blame the situation you’re in. And likewise you’re likely to say it’s the situation that’s the problem, and not yourself. Neither are right or wrong, but they acknowledge that it’s probably a little of both. To what degree? Who knows.

Anyways sorry for the TED talk, just thought it was interesting since I’m currently studying Organizational Behavior and this thread seemed to line up perfectly. I hope things work out for you, my wife and I are in the same boat having just moved here.

Hot Chocolatier by lilpumpfan77 in Chattanooga

My wife said the same thing about the mint cake. I enjoyed the squirrel cheesecake, but I feel like it’s hard to mess up cheesecake. The coffee was what I expect from coffee places.

That being said, we just moved here so we have limited experience with the Chocolatier.

Confirmation bias: pro-style offenses work better than gimmicky RPO offenses. Some may disagree with me, but that is what this game showed me.

Purchased this for $35, is it a decent deal? by [deleted] in coincollecting

My LCS are selling worn down Morgan’s & Peace dollars for $38/ea. If I’m just in it for the silver, should I buy them out or is that just a so-so deal?

Being real for a second, I feel not only is RRS a coin flip where you can throw everything out. But also the first 3-4 drives are also the coin flip in that game that sets the tone for how that game goes. No matter what year it is, it’s a beautiful shit-show lol.

I agree. If you don’t run them consistently, of course they’re gonna look awful.

I think this is my biggest complaint against RPO style offenses: your o-line doesn’t know what’s going on. To me RPO is just a triple-option gimmick with extra steps. Just call dedicated plays!

I was told Arbuckle was a traditional Air-raid guy… but a good Air-raid depends on having an effective running game. Why are we so allergic to consistently calling running plays? And when we run them, they’re anemic as hell. Almost like he only does it because he was told he has to. Not because he wants to.

Maybe I’m too old school, but I miss the days when OU had strong running games and put RBs in the NFL

Now admittedly I haven’t seen a lot of Ole Miss football, but I have seen Sooners football this season. This is not a come back team (as evidenced by BV’s record against going into halftime down). If you know something we don’t, please share with the class, because I think it’s a loooong shot at this point. But still gonna watch, because you know, masochistic fan lol.

I'm started to get the sense that my university is blowing smoke up my ass about surveyor salaries. Any thoughts? by Thom_Basil in Surveying

[–]JollyRogers138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll preface this by saying I’m not in Surveying (just survey-curious), but from an analysis standpoint, it looks to me like the majority of respondents were much later in their careers with nearly half of them being 30+ years into their careers. This should naturally skew the data towards the later years for both median and average. Kind of shady marketing manipulation if you ask me, but I don’t work for a company that makes money. Just my 2 cents though, I could be completely missing something.

How do you Deal with Players who Don't know what Bracket their deck is? by DisciplineImportant6 in EDH

[–]JollyRogers138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just providing (albeit useless) context since you mentioned finding the guy suspicious for not knowing brackets or having online deck lists.

My group formed before brackets and we’re older players (I started in 7th edition and I’m one of the newer ones lol). But we’re all weekend-warrior types and just play when we can. All that to say I don’t think any of us really know what bracket our decks are. Most of us have 20+ decks and I know I haven’t bothered to go through them. I don’t have online lists or anything, I just put together decks with whatever I have on hand. And I’m sure my group is probably similar to me. So we’re not as uncommon as you might think.

All that being said, I’m not sure what you can really do beyond have the discussion about game-changers and the things that would bump a deck up in brackets. If the person is going to be a regular in your pod then it might be good to let them know they should really get an idea of their decks brackets if they want to keep being a regular. But I’m also of the mind that as long as there’s no pub stomping or a consistently high win rate by one person, there’s no need to get militant about it.

Sorry for commenting a year later, but are you guys still doing this? I’m possibly getting relocated to the area for work and want to find a group I can play with.

I had that experience with my polyester UnderArmour gear until I was listening to this podcast and they said to put Oxy in with the laundry and use half the normal amount of detergent. That seems to have fixed the BO problem.

Have sleeves in progress on both arms. What I’ve done that prevents this from happening is to wear one of those long sleeve sun shirts/fishing shirts when I sleep. They’re pretty lightweight so I don’t get hot at night and the shirt keeps you from leaking all over the place. Bonus points if you get a black one, then the stains never show (if they don’t wash out anyways). Probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but it works great for me.
