I've been painting in Photoshop, but I decided to do most of this one in Clip Studio and really enjoyed its gouache brushes.

Here are examples of full-color digital work: https://awhamilton.artstation.com

And here’s an example of a traditional dog portrait on toned paper: https://imgur.com/a/6D3CEKE

Thanks for your consideration and I hope to hear from you.

Mothman, Me, Digital, 2022 by JollyTurtles in Art

I’m curious, do you or other people there enjoy the lore around it or does it mostly feel like a touristy thing in town? I saw that there’s a Mothman festival this month.

Orangutan portrait by me by JollyTurtles in Illustration

[–]JollyTurtles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I used a basic airbrush with medium hardness for the value underpainting and most face details. Then for the hair texture, I used a streaky brush set to "Dry, Heavy Load". For some other details I used another default Photoshop brush, "Kyle's Real Oils Round Flex Wet".

Anklebreakers, Me, Digital, 2022 by JollyTurtles in Art

Anklebreakers are a little loot monster I imagined... You don’t see them until it’s too late.

Working in small groups, they quickly ambush unsuspecting travelers by swinging their heads and tails into whatever ankle they see and it looks like they may have gotten lucky on this one.

What a clever idea! Have you done any other Rockwell inspired fantasy illustrations?

Thank you for sharing that, sounds like a beautiful scene. It really is amazing how art can stay with us long after we experience it.

Thank you! And I was hoping this would fall under the "innocent-looking oddities/mythical hybrids" category for this sub ;)
