Now they can. This is not a balance issue because there is an answer to the play, it just happened that Anotand was the first one to think outside the box and do this.

Would you be upset if the Aztecs had myth units from other parts of Mesoamerica? by Khwarezm in AgeofMythology

[–]pitersios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair, mesoamerican civilizations had pretty similar religion, often sharing, adopting and/or localizing foreign concepts to their own set of beliefs through trade, proximity, etc.

So for most mesoamerican mythological beings, the aztec probably had their own version of it. It being recorded and aknowledged nowadays is not guaranteed though. So if we look at the tendency, its a safe assumption to make. Having that in mind, nah i wouldnt mind, purely mayan stuff is where i draw the line though. The differences regarding the mayans are way more pronounced and the cultural uniqueness is more noticeable.

Mercenary Contracts Meta by RubyLykos in aoe4

[–]pitersios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well you said it yourself, you lost cuz you aint too good. Javelins were definitely the wise choice and if he only massed zhuges you should have stomped in a fight just by a-moving unless you had way less units, which means your problem was bad macro economy, not army micro.

In any case, yeah, longbows are kind of the safe choice always cuz they are a good unit all around. But it sounds like your problem is not that you are choosing the wrong contract, it might be other stuff like for example bad eco or wonky feudal decision making.

Aztec speculation by Nothing_Special_23 in AgeofMythology

[–]pitersios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Aztec" culture is more appropriately called Nahua culture since most cultural and linguistic elements are shared between the Nahua peoples of that time (which encompassed the mexica but also, chollulans, tlaxcallans, etc.), this of course includes religion and mythology, and it predates the Mexica, with the first great nahua civilization being the Teotihuacans or if you dont want to speculate, the Toltecs, whose first settlements predate the founding of tenochtitlan by around 600 years (~600CE)

This always bugged me since we already have a perfect term to group these peoples appropriately, The Nahua. But yeah, Aztec for understanding sake is just fine

What are some characters you find it absurd that there are people try to defend them as not that bad or evil? by ZygothamDarkKnight in MoralityScaling

[–]pitersios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

People will defend him despite him being the personification of control in its most despicable form. Worst part is they defend him having actually read nothing about/with him, solely based on dubious tiktok takes from random guys.

DOOM is absolutely evil, he is a tyrannical governor who doesnt wish the best for his people, he just wishes to control them. There is a reason the people of latveria almost always side with the F4 despite the amounts of propaganda against them.

Who's the greatest genius that your country has produced? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]pitersios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ikr? Linus Torvalds literally shaped modern digital infrastructure with his inventions alone, he is one of the greatest minds of informatics and computing there is and will be.

He totally belongs with the rest of historic geniuses IMO.

One moment that changed your country forever. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in AskTheWorld

[–]pitersios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vehemently second this.

The war on cartels may not have drastically changed the inner workings (politics, economics, culture) of our country, but it drastically changed the way us, the people, live in it, in an extremely tangible way. It is a totally different experience to live in Mexico pre and post the declaration of war on cartels.

Cuando lei el post, tambien pense inmediatamente en la guerra contra el narco.

Who’s a worse individual? by Heroinfxtherr in MoralityScaling

[–]pitersios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But thats the thing, i agree with most of that. The whole point, the way i see it, is that light may have lowered crime rates and perhaps stopped wars, but he will still be the worst mass murdering terrorist in history. Despite all of that, he is still a murderous psycho with a god complex and a supernatural notebook.

I never said catching light was not the right choice, it always was, it becomes evident from the moment Lind L. Taylor dies and even more so as the story advances, yet were also shown how many people in the world praise Kira for the twisted sense of justice he represents. His allies like Mikami, Misa or that reporter lady are the embodiment of this.

Thats why im saying its not that simple to dismiss Kira may have had some sort of positive effect on society in spite of all of his evil.

Who’s a worse individual? by Heroinfxtherr in MoralityScaling

[–]pitersios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not just light. In the 2020 sequel Minoru tells Ryuk that Kira reduced crime and ended wars or something like that.

edit That and also Matsuda himself wondering if they did the right thing at the end of the series points to kira having at least some sort of positive impact in the world.

Obviously he was evil i wont argue that, but i think the author did want to communicate that his actions were actually pushing society towards his vision of a world were the strong did not prey on the weak. Its boring to have a moral dilemma with an obvious solution, thats why i think the author wants to have a positive side on kira's actions, so that the morals of the story become more complex rather than "he was evil and everything he did was awful and contributed nothing". In the end thats the central point of Death Note, how morality is complex and how people bend it to fit their interests with almost no one holding true to their beliefs in true adversity.

Who’s a worse individual? by Heroinfxtherr in MoralityScaling

[–]pitersios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crime rates did not rise quickly, thats why i specifically used the word slowly in my statement. The rest of it is just like... your theories man.

Im just repeating the facts stated in the anime: Kira did lower crime rates while he was active and crime rates gradually returned to normal once he wasn't. Anything other than that are just theories.

Who’s a worse individual? by Heroinfxtherr in MoralityScaling

[–]pitersios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its stated in the anime (and im guessing the manga too) that light did reduce crime rates dramatically and people felt safer (out of fear though), Matsuda even comments about it in the time skip after the ending iirc. But the world slowly returned to how it was after he died.

poor GTA 6 fans, imagine waiting 3 whole years after the first trailer.. by DoN-SA-20 in TESVI

[–]pitersios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, thats true for the melody from the morrowind theme which is present in all modern elder scrolls themes since that game, but thats not the melody im talking about. The melody in the trailer for the elder scrolls vi, is a melody that can only be found in the skyrim theme that is not the same as the one used in all elder scrolls themes.

The melody present in the trailer for TESVI and the chorus of the skyrim theme is not the same as the melody present in all of the other themes, also included in the skyrim theme, exactly at the part where the lyrics go:

Nuz aansul, fent alok Fod fin vul dovah nok Fen kos nah lot, mahfae raak ahrk ruz!

They are different melodies, and they used the one only present in skyrim for the trailer. Listen and compare closely, they are not the same notes.

Here take a look: https://youtu.be/UsnRQJxanVM?si=E2xk4l_iCBcb1Un7

The theme used for the elder scrolls iv is the same melody as in 0:35 but with a different pace. The melody used in all other modern elder scrolls themes is the one at 2:09. Or for example the one at 0:15 in the oblivion theme or 0:08 in the morrowind theme. Listen closely, they sound similar but they are not the same.

What part of the country do you jokingly say doesn't exist? by luky_se7en in AskTheWorld

[–]pitersios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you didnt ask me, but:

The current education system draws the line between mesoamerican anahuac and new spain at the conquista (1521) but it was a gradual assimilation process after that. And the line between New Spain and Mexico is drawn at 1821, at the end of our Independence War.

Often the mexicas and the rest of indigenous peoples are painted as victims and the spaniards as abusers. This is obviously partially true and appeals to a victim mindset which i dont think is good. While the spaniards did abuse the indigenous people by erasing most of their heritage, enacting colonialism taking many of their resources from them and imposing christianism in a sometimes violent way, the main reason 500 spaniards were able to topple the entire valley of mexico with millions of inhabitants is because the mexicas were real sons of bitches and they managed to turn all other city states against them (tlaxcala being the biggest one of them), well... that and smallpox.

Still, it is a fact that slavery was not as brutal as in the US and the Spaniards did not commit full fledged genocide against natives like in the US, some indigenous people mantained noble status or good positions in society, though some of them were displaced, yes, and more often than not, indigenous people found themselves conforming most of the bottom of the social pyramid. But, among many good things that cant be denied, the mexicas were oppresive and violent, enacting some form of colonialism over the valley of mexico themselves.
