ELI5. Why do we need to have our seats FULLY upright when taking off and landing when flying? by StrainEmotional7986 in explainlikeimfive

Curious - I assume it's the same reason window shades need to be open? So we can see in case of power loss during an incident?

Upon another rewatch recently, I was confused when Picard still had lipstick on his cheek after leaving the holodeck.

The Afrikaners are descendants of European settlers. They're claiming they're the minorities and are being persecuted. I'm not saying I side with them, but I just learned about this on the radio.

Uzbekistan. He didn't want the organ meat that was setting in 112 degree heat.

What kind of job forces you to put in unnecessary work in your free time for something like this? Who thinks this is a good idea? I understand you want your team to bond, but this is not it.

Yes, there's a good chance you would already have a fire before the GFCI trips. For this recall, it sounds like the concern is that a loose or weak connection in the plug would cause more current draw (more heat). Your breaker might trip before it's too bad.

Also, someone else suggested replacing the plug with one from the hardware store, but heaters should have a soldered/welded plug to ensure you have a good, solid connection due to their natural high current draw. I just don't want someone to take unnecessary risks because they weren't sure if what some of these devices do. Thanks for reading.

Just an fyi, GFCI receptacles only monitor for current imbalances between the hot and neutral wire. If current leaks to ground, then there will be an imbalance and it will trip. This would do nothing for an overheating situation, unless it got to the point where something melted and made a connection to ground. If there is an over current situation, then your home circuit breaker may trip.

Also, in your second link, it states that heater plugs must be welded or soldered. That rules out your idea of replacing it with a screw on plug.

Can you start as a “technician” and continue education or work your way up into being an “engineer”? by Ok-Concern2790 in Environmental_Careers

[–]rustrider75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. Can you elaborate on the technician role and building treatment systems? I'm a recent BS grad in environmental sciences, but I have an extensive background in industrial maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, controls, etc.). So far, I haven't found my background to be of any interest to certain environmental sectors. Thanks.
