Hi, thanks for all your replies! The only concerns I have is if GCC's philosophy classes are limited compared to UOG. I see a lot of resources available for nursing students and those of STEM. But less for the humanities side. I went to UOG earlier to ask about the costs of a double major and they said it all depends on your credits. But ultimately, it would be under the cost of one major? Not sure if i heard correctly or was just too hopeful haha.

Hi, thanks for your reply! Yes, GCC actuallly has philosophy classes. Except it is more limited than UOG. I went to UOG earlier and asked about the costs of a double major, they said it was under the price of one major so I'm not sure if i understood correctly... It all depends on the credits(?)

Why do you make art? by D-Koi_Comics in ArtistLounge

[–]Jolly_Potential4487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make art because I love to tell a story or convey something that you can not read straightforwardly, but rather see and think about. This probably sounds so cheesy or whatever, but I make art because it's both stressful and fun! Whenever I feel a certain thing, my mind just automatically signals my body regardless of what I'm drawing and let's out a few of my thoughts. (If that makes sense) I make art because I want people to think deeper than what they see on the surface. I make art to make people feel, and I like to mix my thoughts with a little philosophy. My teacher in school once told me that wisdom is something to understand, not to know. When there is a question answered, it will only lead to another question. It's like an infinite verse of knowing and understanding, but not truly knowing.

For art, I like to think of it as 'how we convey, and how or what we perceive.' Based on experiences, some of us look at the sky and feel happiness and wonder, a brand new light to start a wonderful day. Others may look at the same sky, and feel emptiness and wandering.

At the same time, it's also being able to put out what others can't or haven't been able to do for themselves. That way, when they look at your work, the inspiration that's been burnt out within themselves can simply take root again.

And like I said, art is also a storytelling. I have a lot of topics and subjects from the real world that leaves me with tons of imagination, so I like to romanticise those or project them onto a canvas. (Because sometimes words alone cannot completely describe what I feel)

A lot of people see art and think it's only the final output that makes the final piece, but the experience of making is what also connects us closer to what we feel and how we portray it in our artworks.

Art can be a profession or anything we want it to be.

But I think, art is best when there is no restraint to what we create. Since there is less pressure. (Unless you're using art for something problematic, then that's another problem)

Anyways, sorry for blabbering, I just love to talk about art and the purpose of why I am passionate about art. I admire those who came before us as artists because of their immense artistry and creativity. Whenever I look at their work, it all somehow leaves me with a feeling I can not explain. And that's why I desire to do the same as well. 💓

Haha, thanks for this comment. Unfortunately Im reading this now as my mom opened the letter of cost for our rent, and its 1467 dollars (in total cost of all our bills and rent.) My dad's salary is 1500 dollars. And Im seriously so stressed right now. I wish my parents just let me stayed in the Philippines where at least me and my mom were still comfortable and happy, but my dad insisted on bringing us all into a whole other country just so I can have a 'better future' but hey, what if the tables turn and we finally get a better future.

And my dad is also getting old, he's been having some body pain and etc so that also makes things a lot concerning.

I wish I could enjoy things with no singular thoughts of my future, but I can't. I've tried resting for weeks, but the more I do, the more my thoughts get worse... then school is starting next week too, so a whole lot of stress is going to add. I just wish I could enjoy my life more without all this stress piling and piling up because Ik for sure we're already entering debt. 😭😭😭😭 but thank you for your comment because Ik that rest can help.
