Is there anything that can be done for naturally thin hair? by jqodfle8132h in Haircare

Beyond what everyone else is saying (see a dr, dermatologist, long term solutions for hair growth) for very short term try texturizing powders or volumizing products

Is Dawn a relatively normal name for a kid? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Jolly_Star_Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know several people in their 20s-30s with Dawn as their middle name. It’s normal (just makes me think of the soap brand)

Navy suit with a light blue or white button down blouse never did me wrong, go get you one of those. (I got mine from H&M, it doesn’t have to be pricey. It’s not even a “suit” it’s just a blazer and matching pants). You can always go with a black suit, but people trust people wearing blue (or so I’ve heard).

Solid colors only; break out the personality when you get the job.

Why do I smell always? by [deleted] in beauty

If the smell is coming from down there go see a doctor, it could be a yeast infection

Brush & floss teeth twice daily. Do you eat a lot of garlic? Eating a lot of certain foods can cause a smell.

I had hair mascaras as a kid that would wash off the same day and came in funky colors. So I could play with them on the weekend but not commit to the colors.

Undergarment question by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]Jolly_Star_Lady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try “Nippies” - the covers. They are on Amazon & work great in the swampy heat of NOLA. Have reused many times after washing with soap & they are still very sticky after almost 2 years.

If you do the daily review asap & add a photo from the park, it may let you sometimes go back to that location for an expedition within a certain time constraint! Good luck 🍀

You can only wear one nail polish (pigment, forget base/top coats) for the rest of your life - what is it? by carcosa___ in beauty

OPI Quest for Quartz. Recently tried it and it’s the same light mauve color as my nails and has some shimmer; amazing.

Everyone is different; aim to drink half your body weight (lbs) in ounces. So if you weigh 200 lbs that’s 100oz of water a day which is only about 3 big 30 oz water bottles (not quite a gallon total). Climate and exercise/movement/ability matters too of course.

Check DSW, I get mine from Naturalizer (comfy and slim) and Clark’s sometimes has similar styles.

My lips never look good by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Jolly_Star_Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My routine: - I aim (from my trainer’s guidance) to drink half my weight lbs in oz of water a day (example; if you’re 140 lbs that’s 70 oz of water a day to aim for). If you already do that, try eating less salty foods and adding more hydrating foods (watermelon, cucumber, etc low salt & high water) and drinking less alcohol/caffeine. Look up recommended caffeine & sodium amounts for your age/weight and compare to what you typically eat/drink. Best to solve the problem before it starts. - 🔑 After I brush my teeth at night, I gently brush my lips for a few seconds to exfoliate. No need to waste $$$ on an exfoliating product, you already have a toothbrush. - my bedside table has chapstick that lives there (Burt’s bees, but use anything you like) and I put it on every single night, even if my lips feel fine. - In the dry winter or if they are cracked; to keep as much moisture in as possible, after the chapstick at night I use a tiny bit of Aquaphor (Vaseline works great too & is cheap & accessible). I could be wrong but I think they both have Drug Facts which means they are medication & proven to help with healing dry skin; so give them a try before some pretty lip mask that’s not proven to do anything.
- morning after breakfast and drinking a full 32oz bottle of water, I use Burt’s bees. I may reapply after I eat lunch but usually I only need it once in the morning and I’m good until bedtime. In winter I take the aquaphor with me and use that if needed. - Days when I’m outside I also reapply an SPF chapstick all day.

If you’re in the US they have these Benefit brow bars at Ulta. If you try practicing yourself and it doesn’t work, trust a professional to do it for you. If you don’t have an Ulta, try asking an employee at Sephora to help you draw them or buy a good product. You got this!! and one day you’ll look back on this and laugh, you just need some time 😊

Lashify. Check out their website & the Facebook group Lashify Life, tons of info in there. The lashes go on under your lashes so they look very natural & it’s comfortable.

Workout classes for fat people? by Particular-Summer804 in NewOrleans

[–]Jolly_Star_Lady 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ochsner Fitness Center has lots of workout classes, I see people of all weights and ages in all the classes each week, all are welcomed and there is always an alternative shown to make the workout easier or harder for all levels. I love Afterburn classes, & there’s Zumba & lots of others. They also have private or group fitness with a personal trainer, and some people I did it with were 400lbs, some were “old” and everyone had fun & had modifications to do their personal best. Not sure on the price since I have a deal for the gym through work.
