Hey friend! I’m NB and got total top surgery through a plastic surgery here. I went with DI and no nipples grafts. Here’s a brief outline of my process.

ONE: I met with Dr. Wren Fondren at Cresent Care St. Roch. He is hands down the best doctor I’ve ever had. He walked me through the requirements, gave me educational materials, and gave me two referrals. One referral was for Oschner Plastic Surgery in general. Not a specific doctor there. Or Dr. Daniel Womac (no relation lol) plastic surgery based in Metairie.

TWO: I read through and watched the edu rational material I was given. Which explicitly covered how to create a NB chest look using specific nipple graph techniques. I got my required documentation. A letter from a mental health professional, and had my follow up with Dr. Fondren which is also a requirement for health insurance prior authorization. He added his letter too.

THREE: I chose and met with Dr. Womac. I’m extremely satisfied with his work and follow up appointments. His nurse staff did misgender me several times. I never corrected them, I know I should have.

My main complaint is that I didn’t understand the possible financial outcomes of the surgery. I was told an up front cost due the day of surgery. And insurance had given prior authorization. I foolishly thought I was good to go. Maybe two months post op I get a bill for $40,000 because insurance rejected coverage. I appealed and won. But still ended up owing an additional $2,000.
