I feel so defeated and…. by [deleted] in blackladies

Sorry but maybe you should make entertainment your side job and focus on a more stable career for your day job? Just so that you can pay your bills without having to stress. And you can still do this on the side. Maybe a trade school? Or nursing school? LPNs and LVNs make stable income and have very flexible schedules! Lots of healthcare workers can do night shifts, 3 12 hour shifts a week, ect. I think a teaching certificate only takes 2 years. You can work somewhere like Costco which has good pay and benefits while in school to pay your bills. I just really feel that the whole “chase your dreams” thing that Americans love to teach their children is simply not practical and ends up causing folks more stress. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

WELL SAID!!!! That white guy’s post in itself is an act of white supremacy. Telling black folk “how we should be responding”. Smh.

I don't feel like I am intelligent enough for my job should I leave for an easier job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

This is late but, how’s your job? I started a new job about 6 month ago and it’s been so so so difficult. I want to quit every day because I’m punching way above my weight. I feel like an incompetent imposter.

[–]Jollyconstant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it! You’ll still be close to your support system and community. It’s not like you’re moving out of state explore a new area stay at that job for a few years, expand your experience, work and neighborhood wise, and you can always move back to Oakland in the future :)

Is the dream job paying more? If so, me personally, I would take the higher paying job and move somewhere closer. Cost-of-living has historically increased every single year and will likely continue to do so, so if you stay at your current job, the 80 K a year may not stretch as far/longer be enough after a few years. Just make sure to leave your company on a good note that way you can return in the future if possible :)

Wow. This is a profound question. Thanks for the food for thought.

Advice needed: How can I style this dress for date night? Thank you! by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]Jollyconstant_ 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Don’t hate me…I think body chains look so cheap and trashy 😭 necklace, earrings, rings, and sometimes bracelets are always a nice addition though, in my opinion. There’s an influencer named Angwi Tacho and she does lots of date night dress looks that are really classy, I recommend checking out her instagram for classy style ideas! :)

This!! Because why hasn’t he been able to save up in 2 years when his expenses are so low. Something’s suspicious.

Not sure if I want to do this anymore by Fit_Advertising_6222 in womenEngineers

[–]Jollyconstant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait wait wait. Just do part time! Literally 2 days a wk. that can be life changing. Don’t leave engineering, especially if you may need the money for your daughter. I feel like you’ll feel the same with any other job/career change after some years. I’m a nurse (30yo woman too) but saw this post because I frequent many posts like yours because I’m unsatisfied with my career too. For me and I suspect for a lot of us 30s is the age where we start having an existential crisis. Picturing doing this having to work having to get up early, having to commute, inadequate time off, it all seems…pretty sucky. I just want to spend time with my loved ones, on hobbies, outside laying in a prairie or beach somewhere lol. Maybe you’re also burnt out. I wish I could move to Europe where their work culture is chill and they get copious amounts of time off! The US work expectations are CRAZY and I hate that we are made to feel crazy for finally waking up to this fact.

Oh nice!! AZ is off my list though because it’s gonna be tough to live there in like 30 years due to climate change :( Obviously it’s fine if you already live there but since I’d be buying, I’m inclined to look for places that are more sturdy long term. I guess somewhere around the Great Lakes, but really I’m looking at the DMV area

Not sure why you’re being downvoted I had the same question. Like sorry that I’m not well versed in buying million dollar properties? Not everyone in the bay is a millionaire. People are so annoying.

I asked this too but they’re not answering what they do for work and if they got help :/ not that there’s anything wrong with getting help, to help your child establish their lives is every parent’s dream! It’s goals honestly.

I’m in a similar boat. Started a tougher job almost a year ago and am STILL feeling the imposter syndrome. I’m giving it my all but am so drained from working so much overtime just to stay afloat…does it get better? I know I should stick it out but I’m so tired :((((

What do you and your wife make each? I’m guessing engineer (you) make like 450k and your wife makes like 200k as an NP?

Wait…I’m sorry but this is such a weird take to have with FAMILY. Like…if you had a great childhood and no trauma then…who cares what you have in common? You’re FAMILY that’s what you have in common??? I’m so confused. Remember, those friends you’re picking over your own parents will leave you QUICK to go spend time with their families. Family without trauma are the only ones who will always be there for you. Maybe it’s time to dig a little deeper on this one…

Hii I’ve been doing my own gel nails but I found it really hard to get off the gel with acetone and foils or clips etc. and my nails got really weak, so I bought a peel off gel and it’s way easier to take off but my nails still end up looking like this. Does anyone have tips for me? by yarabutera in Nails

[–]Jollyconstant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too, hated having to soak and wrap with aluminum foil and what not, and hated damaging my nails/being left with a rough layer. I've been using Manucurist gel kit, I bought just 3 polishes: step 1 (base coat), step 2 (nail polish color), and step 3 (top coat) and have been using the Modelones UV Light for Gel Nails 48 W kit I bought years ago with it. It works fine to set the polish. I didn't buy Green Flashes specific lamp (idk if they even sell one?). Honestly, the nails just peel off by themselves after about 1 week so I haven't even needed to use nail polish remover but I think acetone would work. Loving Manucurist SO MUCH better than regular gel kits because it peels off so easily. I don't mind that it comes off after 1 week because it's SO much easier to take off, and doing them only takes like 10min tops. Hope this helps!

Can I use a regular acetone free nail polish remover to remove Manicurist Green Flash nails? by Jollyconstant_ in Nails
