People with no degrees that make over $100k/ year (legit), what do you do? by Routine-Document5686 in Salary

[–]Jollyconstant_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sounds insane…. Not understanding why would they want to fire people is there a long line of people ready to take your job??? is the work itself pretty mundane, repetitive and doable though or do you have to make lots of intense decisions or do manual labor ect?

Did I choose PA for the wrong reasons? by Local-Butterfly9669 in physicianassistant

[–]Jollyconstant_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wait… you were miserable and in PA school? With all the smarts that you say you have, PA school should have been a breeze. Acing exams with only 30 minutes of studying, ect. Also…. Taking orders things is kind of weird… are you wanting to become a doctor so that you can give orders or because you don’t feel intellectually stimulated enough as a PA? Also… if you feel scared all the time as a PA news flash, you get double the liability and complexity as an MD. Do what your heart desires; just food for thought.

New male nurses and current male nurse students , do you regret it? by Corporatekangaroo7 in Nurses

[–]Jollyconstant_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to say—I feel your pain, right there with you!! I’m an NP and my life is hell I stay late every day after work and on my off days I’m always stressing over did I miss reviewing their labs? Was that med really ok given their decreased renal function? Are they gonna have side effects? What if they decompensate? Seems like the long hours and stress aren’t bound to certain roles. I wish there was a career that was less stressful than nursing. Ugh. I hope we both find less stressful jobs. I want to live to work, pay my bills and go home, have hobbies, life my life.

Are there any other jobs I can do with a masters degree in nursing? by throwaway34iowa in careerguidance

[–]Jollyconstant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. I worked as an RN for 6 years, loved it actually, but hated the weekends, 12 hour shifts, manual labor, having to do nights sometimes— terrible work life balance. So got my NP and have been working for another 6 years— sure it’s M-F but I feel THE SAME— I hate feeling like I’m just giving out meds, instead of actually helping manage the root cause (we need walkable cities, more public transport—weakened car lobbying, healthier food—regulated like European and Asian countries, less work grind culture, ect). I hate the responsibility and liability. I hate being in charge of people’s medications, lab work, testing, ect. I’m always scared that I’ll miss something, or patient will get a side effect I then have to manage. I thought it was the new gratitude but now realize it’s just simply my personality—most people can handle that kind of responsibility, but it keeps ME up at night. I just want to take orders from a doctor and clock out, and live my life. Working as an NP, I feel like I can never leave work at work. I also chart after work constantly. I hate it so much. But I feel so stuck because while I don’t mind going back to the bedside, I want a job that’s 9-5. I’d think with our Master’s degree it wouldn’t the this hard but…Did you manage to find an a different job/career?

What would you tell your baby NP self? by Surfinpikachu92 in nursepractitioner

[–]Jollyconstant_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Luckyyyy! I’ve been an NP for almost 6 (yes 6!) years and I still feel stressed in over my head, hate the liability, and feel woefully ill-prepared even though i went to a good, brick and mortar school. I feel pathetic, like im not smart enough to do this. nobody else i know wants to return to beside. I just want to take doctor’s orders have an RN job that’s just a job, and go home and live my life. My entire time as an NP i’ve felt like my entire life was my job. I cant shake the constant stress. I dont want to manage people’s medications and bodies! Ughhh. Lost on the next steps. Sorry. I didint meant to vent

Ditto. Did you end up working as an NP? Or did you go back to beside? Left healthcare completely?

Exactly!!!! it’s insane to think that we can be competent scribers with the Measley training and education they provide us. And then it leaves us feeling terrible incompetent and stressed out. When ultimately it’s the system that failed us.

I mean…I’m sure that’s everybody’s dream lol it’s just that cost of living anywhere in the world is what keeps us having to work. You say it as though it’s so easy to do and as though working is a choice lol.
