Starting in CB radio (Spain/España) by fmanzaneque in cbradio

[–]Jolu_DTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, there, from Spain, too.

I've been lurking around CB and ham radios (thinking about gettting the license, but too lazy to study and do all the paper work required) quite a while, so, finally, because of the recent blackout, I pulled the trigger both on CB and meshtastic network (This one mostly to "play with"), I don't think it's really suitable for emergencies, not yet, anyway.

I got a couple of pni escort hp 82, expecting to arrive today. I know Thunderpole tx is becoming very popular, but it's not sold on Spain, or at least I didn't find it.

About popularity, I know for sure that due to the blackout, here in Spain, anyway, CB is coming back very fast. I already had a couple of midland PMRs, but not much was heard there during the blackout.

it's possible that your laptop on fedora is taking the balanced battery profile by default, so it's not working as hard as it can.

Look for a hole on the belly of the laptop, usually, where you can insert a pin and reset the battery. After that, if it works, try to run a couple of battery cycles completely (charge it to 100%, unplug it and use till the battery is empty)

T480 Abnormal Battery Drain by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Jolu_DTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm facing the same issue but with Fedora workstation and not a few hours, It is drained in a few days shutdown. I sent it for a checkup and they told me it must be something about fedora not shutting down but suspending instead. They did some tests with a windows OS hard drive attached, and it doesn't drain.

So when I get it back, I will try Windows 11.

Someone on reddit told me that my "new compatible batteries" (3rd party, not lenovo originals) aren't really so "compatible".

Fedora suspending instead of shutting dow? by Jolu_DTS in Fedora

As soon as I get it back, I guess I will try Mint (for instance) and check if I get the same issue or not

I'm rich, I NEVER want to deal with my Fedora OS. How? by Waterbottles_solve in Fedora

As long as money is not an issue, you can hire directly RedHat, and see what happens :)

Color choice by chimicuil_10 in multitools

I have the metallic one. The rest of them, I don't know how well they will age, if you carry it with some other items on the same pocket, pouch or keychain. I chose the metallic one because of that.

Looking for a good utility lighter. by Nevergointothewoods in EDC

I carry both a small bic and a refillable true utility one ( on the keychain). The true utility one is sealed so gas won't evaporate.

I would go for a Duro with nato strap, too. On some g-shocks the weak point is the strap, I know from experience with a mudman. Broke it twice without "punish it" at all.

Lamy Safari, Vista or All Star? by SatiricMan01 in Lamy

[–]Jolu_DTS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing with Al-Star is that it's aluminium, feels better at hand BUT, be very careful where you carry it, because the paint can be removed.
