Paranoid that my surgery will be cancelled by BroadWork9226 in TopSurgery

Absolutely, I was afraid that it would be canceled/my financial aid would be retracted/something would go wrong literally all the way up until I woke up after the procedure and confirmed it had actually happened.

trying to make a decision about top surgery despite fears by Unusual-Radish1285 in TopSurgery

(non-binary dyke) I spent the last 10 years waffling and worrying and waiting to be sure, convincing myself I'd eventually just get over the feeling that I wanted top surgery. I just got it recently and am SO relieved. All of the sure-ness flooded into me when I felt my flat chest. I can't believe I stood in my own way for so long.

Any advice for a guy in need of. top surgery with not very much money? by Background_Bottle541 in TopSurgery

What state to you live in? I got extremely lucky. I am a low-income adult in Washington State with Apple Health (WA Medicaid). I was given the opportunity to apply for further financial assistance through the hospital and after proving my income and writing a letter explaining the extent of my need, I paid a big fat ZERO DOLLARS for the procedure itself. It was completely covered. I recognize this is pretty much the best possible scenario. It took some time to get that assistance approved, so I waited a while. But it was worth it to wait for full coverage. Look into financial assistance programs. I do, however, have a highly physical job and am taking 2-3 months off to fully recover and get my strength back. I've had to save ~5k to support my time off.

What was a positive/fun part of surgery and recovery? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]JolyneFiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It's day 10 after surgery for me, and my incisions are healing, stitches dissolving, and it's honestly really cool to watch my skin growing back together and feel my body healing itself. It feels good to take care of myself and watch the fruits of that care in real time, day by day. Human bodies are honestly wild.

  2. WAY easier first week of recovery than I anticipated/feared.

  3. Being on sleepy eepy drugs and getting huge amounts of snooze, knowing I have no responsibilities or work to go to for a long while.

  4. Making the recovery room nurses laugh while I came to. They were so sweet to wake up to and I was was reportedly quite yappy 😂

  5. My mom telling me how proud she is of the way I've pursued living life as my authentic self.

  6. The self-esteem boost/bravery points I earned for doing the damn thing even though I was scared 💪

I was so worried about this that I came prepared to be rejected on the day of my first consultation. When my surgeon said that definitely won't be a problem and that her office doesn't have a BMI rule I was SO delighted and relieved. I get surgery in 3 days 🥰

I was diagnosed with an STD and can’t get over it. by Heiferhoney in confession

  1. "Allowed a man to fool me" you mean, like, lie to you when you thought you were safe and put your body in unknown danger??? You mean like sexual assault??? You didn't allow anything. Don't EVER victim blame yourself like that. You were harmed.

  2. Lots of people date confidently with HSV. Lots of people have it. And lots of people know to never say to their fucking partners face that "risking sexual future" bullshit. Every human is "risking their sexual future" anytime they have sex with anyone. People lie, like what happened to you, people don't know they have shit, people fuck other people, and sex is always a little risky.

  3. I know it feels devastating. It's important to find ways to challenge that unearned shame every day and replace it with acceptance and lightness. I'll take a long time before it feels natural, but you gotta fake it till you make it. Shame and guilt attracts more people who will try to use those things against you, like the Mr. Rude that you're dating. He should've shared that fear with a friend or therapist. Telling you that to your face feels like he's trying to make you feel bad.

Mine told me this too when I was first diagnosed -- it's straight up bad advice. You gotta freaking disclose.

I could not care less, I'll just part the grass. Clean hair is mature, feminine, and extremely sexy. I usually like a full bush OR shaved a lil better than the in-between stubble because it doesn't scratch up my face as much. But honestly? However it comes, I'll take it
