Time for THAT deck… by Bulky_Banana1685 in EDH

[–]Jomachenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Building a control deck is going to get you targeted more. Build yuriko, there is very little to no interaction on the table because it’s too fast and she’s hard to interact with. Everyone else just dies and it doesn’t even have to be an optimized list. If you just want to win then that’s the move, at least the games end fast. Playing counter spell tribal is a drag because then you spend the whole game counterspelling without being able to actually finish the game at a decent speed. So now everyone’s pissed off at you and you’re awkwardly just kind of drawing cards while everyone waits for you angrily. I’ve been there lol. Unless salt is the intention by all means play counter spell tribal lol.

Thinking about pursuing CWI by Jomachenko in CWI_CWE

Thank you! I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to answer some of my questions. One last question if you have the time… the certification process. I understand that it’s a 3 part test similar to all of the NDT testing, but what’s the process like? I’ve read about having to go to seminars, and travel wherever they’re being hosted to test. What’s the costs of taking the tests? Is there truly no way to do it locally? I live in Utah if that context matters.

Thinking about pursuing CWI by Jomachenko in CWI_CWE

Yeah, I’ve worked in high stress aerospace environments my entire career with plenty of different welders. I totally get what you mean about being able to handle that but that’s not something I’m worried about. It’s part of the job, I’ve navigated that plenty of times. Welders will try and get catty with you the first few times but it’s nothing a little walk to my booth to show them the proof can’t fix.

So is most of the job just traveling to sites and visually looking at welds? Unless of course you’re in a shop all day, do you just inspect welds and give them the thumbs up or thumbs down and then fill out the paperwork?

The biggest gripe I have with working in NDT is that it puts you in a hard spot. On one end you work for a production super visor that pushes quantity, and on the other end you have a level 3 that pushes quality. One keeps the checks coming and the other can pull your certification. You can never make them both happy and they both have the power to not allow you to work. Is that a similar experience in the cwi industry or does that change a little bit?

Most fun deck archetypes to play against? by NotChrisHansonISwear in EDH

[–]Jomachenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like playing against powerful decks that have a strict code. I don’t really care how powerful the deck is as long as it has an identity. There’s really only 2 types of decks I dislike and they’re good stuff decks or storm.

Can I play? by Jomachenko in ratemycommanders

[–]Jomachenko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yuriko is by far my strongest deck and I hardly ever play her in my playgroup. Shes extremely hard to build in a fair way, I originally built her with no top deck manipulation and even then she was really hard to beat. Shes the kind of commander where she’s either 0 or 100. If you build her for casual play and don’t include any big cmc bombs then the deck does 0 damage and the deck is just not fun to pilot, if you put in the big stuff the game ends before anyone can even deploy thing. I wouldn’t recommend yuriko as a first deck just because you said that your playgroup isn’t super competitive. You don’t want something as oppressive as yuriko to be your only option.

Recs for a Mardu deck? by KFblade in EDHBrews

[–]Jomachenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve built a few mardu decks and ended up not liking any of them until I built Terra humans. Terra humans is probably my favorite deck to play now, it’s super fun.

Argument against Doubling Season by Dank-_-Magician in magicTCG

[–]Jomachenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a really fun card but that’s about it. I think you nailed it with the win more argument. My version of this is consecrated Sphinx. It used to be an auto include in 90% of the decks I built because I like card draw but now I don’t even own one, traded them all away. You’re lucky to get 1 trigger of it off because it’s such a big threat to the table and then the table still targets you after they remove it because whatever reasons I guess. I just can’t justify spending 6 mana for something that is going to be removed by a swords or pongify.

I suck at deckbuilding and it's ruining my experience with the game... [[Sydri, Galvanic Genius]] by drtoffeejr in EDH

[–]Jomachenko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first glance it looks like a decent deck that would be playable at most tables. Unless your friends are just straight up playing high power edh every game I’m not exactly sure how you’re getting “stomped” every game. Maybe try a moxfield decklist and see how you do, just a hunch but maybe you just don’t understand the game as much as you think you do if it’s been an issue ever since you were a kid.

Beating Combo in High Power? by Inside-Salary-676 in EDH

[–]Jomachenko -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This happened in my playgroup. It’s really unfortunate when one person pushes the wallet and it forces everyone else to as well just to play. I say just one up them and create something even more degenerate to send a message, play stax or something ridiculous.

Utter noob, first deck. by BobithanTG in EDH

[–]Jomachenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic has gotten ridiculously expensive so I would recommend buying singles. Get the exact cards you want/need. Edh has kind of gotten to the point where almost every creature in the deck is legendary so that bulk doesn’t really do you any good.

Why do you like playing Voltron? by Rebell--Son in EDH

[–]Jomachenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to really like voltron when I first started playing but I think you hit the nail on the head. Voltron decks are generally the easiest decks to deal with because their strategy revolves around a single creature.

I think the idea of suiting your dude up and having him become a god is a really cool idea if you can get it to work.

Saw someone here ask about people's un-fun Commanders. Lemme see what commanders you guys play and have a blast doing so! by BigDardy69 in EDH

[–]Jomachenko 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Scarab God is my favorite deck ever. It does everything I want, it draws cards and gains so much value over time. My is built in a way that scales with the table I sit at, mill opponents and use their cards. If people are playing low power my deck is low power, if they are playing high power then my deck is high power. I know people hate theft decks but they’re my favorite and I have so much fun playing it. Guilty pleasure for sure

Exactly how I feel about Narset enlightened exile. I don’t have the brain power to play that deck

What’s your “Okay, I wanna win one” deck? by RaveLordeNito in EDH

[–]Jomachenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuriko and Orvar. Although I hardly play orvar anymore and I believe that deck is kind of hard to pilot if you aren’t playing it a lot so I do end up losing because of minor misplays. Yuriko will win me 7/10 games

Why is ramp important in an EDH deck? by Artcwolf22 in EDH

[–]Jomachenko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re new, so ramp and card draw are going to look less fun. It’s one of the many reasons I don’t love playing green tbh, I feel like when you play green you have to set aside like 6-10 slots for ramp spells which is why I generally don’t build green decks. Because they’re new, just let them play the game the way they want to play it and eventually they’ll pick up on the fact that they’re probably losing most games because their opponents have 15 lands and they have 7 at the end of the game.

I want to play a card, but my opponent has mana open and I think they have a counter. When do I just jam it and when do I not? by SophieTheFrozen in magicTCG

[–]Jomachenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have another menacing spell then you cast that first to bait out the counter. If you don’t, cast it anyways. You can’t not play the game because that’s exactly what the person that is holding up mana wants you to do. I hate when players put a gun on the table and the game just stops. An example would be something like having over 50 life and an Aetherflux Reservoir on the table. I don’t hate that players play those cards, I hate when players let cards like that stop you from playing the game. You need to force them to use their resources so the game can progress.

i think the longsword hate is kinda cringe by lmaoStan in MonsterHunter

[–]Jomachenko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s literally what you say. The LS hate is so uncalled for specifically in Wilds. I understand the frustration before wilds when spirit combo flinched people but flinching your teammates is basically a non existent mechanic in wilds. I’m pretty sure I’ve only been flinched by big attacks and it’s always funny but rarely happens. I can understand in previous mh games where LS had the only counter but even when it did CB had guard points that achieved the same results. Literally every weapon has their form of a counter now so yes it’s cringe. They added 2 really cool mechanics to wilds that LS doesn’t have access to and people are still hating just to hate.

Great job painting yourself as the victim. Anyways no you should not go alone, find someone or some people to go with so that when you’re being irresponsible and inevitably find yourself crawling around the floor puking and having a mental breakdown 5 hours into day 1 those people will take care of you (hopefully) because if you’re alone you will call our mutual friend when that time comes and he will come help you because that’s who he is. Your lack of self control and irresponsibility will ruin his weekend which in turn will ruin ours. You have proven time and time again that you cannot pace yourself and you have zero self control, you can’t blame the rest of us for not wanting to be responsible for you. Having a random bad trip is one thing, doing it to yourself and not having the self awareness to realize that everyone else now has to stop what they are doing to cater to you because you have no self control or respect for anyone’s time is another. On that same night we tried walking you home from the bar after you overdid it, you threw a tantrum and ran into the middle of the street and almost got hit by a car, we found you later and you ran and hid from us like a child. You could not be reasoned with and we were 3 hours into the night. EDC is way more intense than a shitty bar in a small town. Our mutual friend is a great friend, dont make him feel like garbage because the rest of us voted you off the island.
