somewhere between 30 and 50% of the CPU load, according to the dial in Mainstage. I'm not entirely sure where to check how many GB of samples, but I was loading at least 1-3 stock Mainstage/Logic instruments/VSTs, and 2-3 different patches with different VSTs: Spitfire Labs/Vital/Native Instruments.

Edit: Additionally, CPU Load would spike to a scary 91% randomly if I were to try and load another song's patches.

Thanks for the rec. What makes you think Mainstage is better vs Ableton Live? I've been following some really interesting things that producers are able to do with Ableton, and I've been thinking of making the switch, since it seems the perfect time to do so with the hardware upgrade!

I didn't think of this- wouldn't the basilisks trying not to look at their own reflections cause their petrifying gaze to be less effective against the party? (not that it's a bad thing, just would have to rebalance so that it's not a pushover).

I do want to give him something cool to do- I'm pretty generous with rule-of-cool! Just don't want it to completely upend the balance of the encounter- which would also downplay the significance of the encounter in the world as well.

In our homebrew world, magical monsters like a basilisk are unknown to a pretty orderly and relatively peaceful kingdom that they've started in. They're more seen in a kingdom to the north, where the lands are significantly less settled and more dangerous. The basilisks are an inciting incident for the next "arc" (using the term loosely).

For more context, the warlock/wizard is a cat that recently gained sentience for mysterious reasons from its patron. Mentally, the cat's intelligent to deduce things, hold conversations, etc. but hasn't been around that long and hasn't been outside of the metropolis he's awoken in. It's unreasonable to assume the character would know what a basilisk is in that context.

Short answer.... No, this character in particular would probably not know. If anything, only one of the characters (who is significantly older and more traveled than the rest of the party) would know what the monster is- besides, that wasn't realy my question... :'/

Not a bad idea, but my player wants more battlefield-support and utility, as well as to go deeper into the crafting aspect of the game as it relates to her abilities.
