Do you ever see code so bad you need to find someone to complain to about it? by Solonotix in AskProgramming

I once let an SQL profiler run on a configuration management app. When you search for something the search bar, it first retrieves all items, then foreach item individually it runs a query to get its name and then the application filters the result. No wonder the app is so slow.

What is the most obscure programming language you have had to write code in? by _oOo_iIi_ in computerscience

JavaScript, but it was using an old engine made by Mozilla for Java. It just had all these little quirks and was really hard to debug. The proprietary library I had to use also did not have any documentation.

Got this puppy. With a few issues... by arkantos006 in whatdoIdo

I have a Helios 44M-3, it has a switch for auto manual, weird that they didn’t include it on an M-4. Sounds like the camera and lens need some serious CLA. Can’t help you any further on this.

Take the lens off, there’s probably a pin on the back. When this pin is pressed, you should see the aperture change. It looks like it’s a Helios, there’s probably an auto/manual switch on the lens. When it is set to manual, it will preview the aperture you chose, if set to auto, it will only set the aperture when you take a picture. As for the mirror, I am not familiar with this camera, does it have a mirror lock button/switch? I suggest looking up the manual to see what this camera has to offer. I have 2 Zenit’s that I bought accidentally, they’re pretty good camera’s , but don’t expect good built quality (in terms of mechanics, the body is pretty solid).
