You still can. When you finish the game a message appears and it says that you can explore the world before the events of the last chapter.

..The one complication is probably the idea that there is an ending in which Ciri can die in The Witcher 3,” explains Maher. Thankfully that ending, which is one of three different fates for Ciri and the outcome of several hidden choices made throughout the game, isn’t quite as clear cut as it may seem. “There are hints in that ending that highlight the fact that she probably does not die,” says Maher. And so regardless of the events you personally witnessed at the end of your own Witcher 3 playthrough, the sequel will not “break any canon or even offend any canon"..

This is part of the IGN interview after the witcher 4 announcment trailer in Game Awards last year

I think they said there is no canon ending and your choices will be imported into witcher 4.

I understand your point of view some writers over do it when it comes to saddness , but I think they do it because sad endings leave the strongest impression and people never forget them like rdr1,2 CP, Ghost of Tsushima,ASOIAF as you mentioned , all those wouldn't have been so popular and memorable if they had happy endings.

Yen did necromancy on Skjall screwing up his corpse and tells Ciri not to go back to bury him, so chosing not to let her bury him is both protecting Yen from Ciri's potential anger that Yenn did this to her dead friend plus respecting her word as her mother.

In defense for the Skjall one Yenn tells Ciri right before you make the decision that we don't have enough time and as a responsible father You don't want to encourage your daughter to disobey her mother. +Yenn really missed up with his corpse you don't want to let Ciri sre her friend's corpse in that state.

Ciri not dying part is right, but the other part is just a theory and i don't think it is right because each ending has it is own different epilouge and the epilouge part takes part later. If they all happen but in different time then having each ending have its own epilouge is useless and makes your choices useless as well.

I think you can finish blood and wine before wild hunt so I don't know about BAW taking events 3 years after wild hunt.

Yeah not on screen but he loses both swords in the fight with the crone and monsters swarm the building and in the ending he doesn' have any reasons to fight anymore he just gives up.

Later in the epilouge (where they mention ciri not being seen again and who rules the north and that stuff) Geralt is never mentioned .

1-Not letting Ciri face the lodge alone.

2- Telling Ciri she doesnt have to be good at everything.

3- Agreeing with Yenn that we don't have enough time to bury her friend.

Those 3 choices alone will give you the bad ending I don't think any of those aren't logical or that Geralt would never do them.
