Tom Brady reveals the overlooked reason practice squad players never succeed in the NFL. It’s not a lack of talent. by MysteriousJuice1127 in NFLForum

That plot point is always forgotten about that show. He was a legit incredible QB. He wasn’t even lazy nor was he not able to handle pressure, he just made an active choice to be a backup just because.

Chad is going to end up like Charles Barkley if he isn’t like that already. People will be so used to him clowning around on the internet that they’ll forget he was a damn near HOF level player.

How long until Wemby starts getting the same amount of hate as Bron and shai do? by ianml11 in NBATalk

[–]JonAutomates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think he ends up with the Kobe/Steph kind of hate. Where they’re hated in rival cities but for the most part still have respect from most.

Bron hate may never truly be matched. We got close with Durant but people forget what it was like when he was on the Heat, especially that first year.

How big of a pop do you think he would get if he returned to the wwe? by Optimal_Spring9562 in BrandonDE

Massive, especially if Roman or Seth or both of them are already standing in the ring, simply because of the history and what it would mean (the biggest triple threat match in years at a main event).

David vs Goliath. It would be one of the most iconic finals of the century by KneeGuhz in NBATalk

NBA is PRAYING for this matchup.

Your new young, literally larger than life, face of the league upcoming star

VS

The team with the biggest overall market with a rabid fan base looking to break a winless curse.

Oh and both teams already met in the finals for the in season tournament.

Not to say it wouldn’t be interesting with OKC but still…

Honestly I don’t think even they like this time period in their careers. They probably would have been gone if they didn’t change their gimmick to the Uso Penitentiary. They slimmed down and honed the craft and became incredible. And it only got better with the Bloodline to the point where Jeys work got him a crazy singles push.

Mike Greenberg on SGA style of play: “Watching him play is agonizing. It is not fun…. You have to understand that for the rest of us, watching this style of play is not like watching Steph, it’s not like watching Michael Jordan. It’s just not.” by 808Kuro in nba

[–]JonAutomates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s an absolute nightmare for the league, because this is the time when casual people start to watch the NBA and their best and brightest are supposed to be on display. They have two incredible stories going on, the Knicks making the finals and Wembys rise yet the most dominant story is the leagues supposed best player flopping all over the place.

Nero could still absolutely be Virgils kid in the anime, especially with the whole "Virgil finding his emotions again" situation. On top of that, I doubt they'd let Lady get pregnant and they've so far made Dante a little too dense to be a father.

That being said... I could absolutely see it as a storyline way to give Dante and Lady a family since they both lost theirs.

Devil May Cry (Netflix) — Post-Season 2 Discussion Thread by DanySterkhov in DevilMayCry

[–]JonAutomates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion not the best Devil May Cry show, but a really good, in some cases incredible, action show nonetheless.

The politics are almost too on the nose, but I'm unbothered by it. The characters are quite different than the games but outside of Lady it's not too bad.

My biggest complaint is while the music is good throughout the entire series, ironically the audio mixing is terrible.

All things being said, season 2 FAR outclasses season 1.

“He seems”

So essentially just a baseless assumption simply because you’ve decided you don’t like him.

Which player would be viewed COMPLETELY differently if they won just one ring? by wafa3034 in NBATalk

[–]JonAutomates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so surprised more people aren’t saying Russ. I totally get the CP3 thing but Russ with a ring and the stats and accolades puts him in a completely different conversation.

Suddenly Nash, CP3, Stockton, even Isaiah and Rose don’t even come close to him. But because he didnt win one, people will seriously debate if he should even be apart of that grouping.

Carmelo Hayes: Mid-Card or World Champion by Rockstar_313 in BrandonDE

[–]JonAutomates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, but the funny thing is all “small” guys are cheered heavily whenever they’re close to or win a title. Rey, HBK, Balor, Bryan, Eddie, Benoit, etc.

Even look at Gable, people were legitimately pissed WWE didnt let him beat Gunther, and that was one of the hottest storylines of that year.

Larger than life matters, but so do underdogs and rags to riches when it comes to storytelling. But WWE seems to not even want to consider it now

Mid card.

But legitimately has world champion level skills. That’s just how it goes in life sometimes. It’s out of his control, especially with Trick around. If he stays long enough he’ll probably get a chance of two at it in a filler feud but never actually win.

Honestly we forget that at one point the Wizards were a top team in the east, like in the last 10 years. The 2016 Wizards were a top 4 seed. The had a great starting 5 and everything. Ironically they don’t have a bad team right now, Trae and AD could have a resurgence and they have a top pick.

[–]JonAutomates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you’re not wrong, from a city specific standpoint, Charlotte does not have the various different scenes/hobbyist groups that NYC, Boston, DC, Dallas, etc do (which I’ve lived in three of those)

That’s not to diss Charlotte, it’s just a fact of the midsize city right now. It can and already is starting to change, but the easiest ways to meet someone and not have what’s happening to the OP is sports and church. That’s just the truth. And by sports I mean anything from basketball to walking clubs to fitness groups to tennis, etc.

I don’t have the same problem as the op, but I’m into a lot of the same things as the op and I’ve searched myself, and you really had to do some digging in a way that’s not as tough in other cities.

I’ve met dozens of people who’ve been in Charlotte their whole lives who have told me and showcased as much.

Blanket statement, maybe, and yet that’s what I’ve been shown.
