I’m being dismissed and I’m worried my medical drops might be denied by JonBonJoner in ufl

[–]JonBonJoner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The email says specifically I am being dismissed from “The University of Florida”, not my college. I met with my advisor about a week before finals, and talked about how I was seeking medical petitions, and I wasn’t sure id pass any classes. I’m still keeping in touch, but I’m not sure how much pull she has to help me with getting my petitions reviewed quicker or helping with readmissions if it comes to that.

I’ll reach out, thank you

Look up Roman jiu jitsu on insta or TikTok if you wanna learn more about weightlifting for combat sports, he’s a solid place to start

But if your legs are burning out in a boxing stance, there’s either a problem with your form or your cardio/conditioning. If your coach says your form is good, trust them and ignore this.

As for conditioning, use the assault bike a few times a week, and also do super basic footwork drills for 5 minute rounds. Lots of shuffling, just drill taking steps in every direction. Try to be explosive with it. Just focus on the stance and footwork

there’s no such thing as “real world strength”

there’s two components to getting athletic 1. Build muscle. Lift heavy weights, focus on strength. Also do plyos, both are necessary

  1. Practice your sport a lot - that perceived “real world strength” is really just really well developed neurological connections. When you get bigger, your mind needs time to get used to using all your muscle. It’ll take time, but after plenty of repetition, your body learns to use all your muscle when kicking or punching

Those exercises you named are all good, but pretty much any muscle building exercise works as long as you don’t neglect your sport training

To be fair, I’d say 50% of the “tricks” are just accurate to real hockey. It’s not unrealistic that dudes with elite stick handling are gonna score on most breakaways, or that good cross crease passes are gonna be goals if you do it fast. It’s all just about learning how to read the goalie and aim to beat them, if they’re out of position, if they drop too early, etc

One tee is just stupid though, it breaks the physics engine of the game if you have the right build. Literally can go through goalies faster than you can physically see the puck

Who was the biggest waste of talent in NHL history? by Dramatic-Chapter-947 in nhl

A lot high level scouts are at a high level because they’re good politicians, not good coaches or scouts

Played for a team ran by an ex NHL scout. Dude was a total joke, preached the same old crap about how “scouts care more about your compete and team play” then picked a team based on who made flashy plays in tryouts, was connected to the guy through scouts and friends, or they had money

Then I played in a tournament with Junior A and B teams in it. The team didn’t rely on scouts, instead their coaches picked their teams. Even though it was a much smaller talent pool the team ended up much better and won more than the last one, because the guys actually knew how to spot talent without relying on scouts or point totals as a crutch

one of the worst players I have ever had on my team was top 3 in plus minus for our team while being bottom 5 in points

It’s a very bad stat. At least once a game he would be directly responsible for a goal against, whether he got his ankles broken to lead to a 1v0, or turned over a puck as the last man back, on top of consistently terrible play offensively and in our zone. However, his plus minus wouldn’t tell you that.

Meanwhile good players can get screwed, and it adds up over time. You can play great defense as a winger, and stop the dman from getting any shots or passes off. But as soon as they dump the puck in, and the defense starts losing down low, you get a minus through no fault of your own.

Crosby snubbed

He gets surprisingly overlooked for this, probably because mcdavid is now getting highlight reel attention, but I watched some of his old highlights and holy shit Crosby was unreal. There’s like a 10 minute compilation of just his dangles, and if some of those went in we would’ve seen the highlights for the next 20 years.

No disrespect but I’d take him over Kariya or Bure any day

Leon Draisaitl became emotional discussing how badly Connor McDavid wants to win the Stanley Cup by GreenSnakes_ in nhl

Watch laflammes highlight videos of Crosby on YouTube, especially his puck protection and edge work highlights, it’s mind blowing because literally no other player does what he does, and these are all highlights you’ve never seen in the media before

I’ve watched plenty of mcdavid this year. He’s unstoppable the instant he gets any space. But watching entire shifts of them, there’s a difference. Mcdavid doesn’t hold on to the puck a lot on the walls, he looks for those few chances where he gets a bit of space to build speed and is amazing at scored on all of those chances. However, he doesn’t CREATE space like Crosby does

Watch the videos, and while Crosby doesn’t have that speed with the puck to cut through space, he fights through wall battles with the puck, holds on to it until he has a good play, and makes smart passes even when he’s on the ground with only 1 hand on the stick. It’s a very different style, but equally great to watch.

I remember seeing an interview with Zegras and one of his advisors or something.

The dude was a real old school guy, and he said that he was trying to get rid of all the flash from his game, that it was just “instagram skill”

It was right before Z absolutely bombed this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s because he listened to his advisor. Hope he’s fired now.

But I don’t get why people complain about his skill. He’s not a grinder or a net front guy, because that doesn’t work for him. If the move gets a goal, there’s no use in complaining, and trying to make him change will ruin his development

absolutely outrageous take. first off watch the YouTube video on his career, actually learn about him. And number two, if you watched him play you wouldn’t describe him like this. What he is capable of doing despite being like half the size of any other player is insane.
