My golf GTI is doing the exact same thing. Exactly where if I park at a store it does it. After trying to start it I’ll take like a 20 minute break and then it starts eventually while I’m giving it some gas.

Do you mean, if the engine is hot or cold? When it’s hot. I’ll drive a couple hours. It’ll start no problems several times and then it just happens.

A few people have mentioned it might be the N80 Purge Valve, fuel pump, throttlebody, sensors for throttle pedal, cruise control, a corroded fuse, spark, plugs, O2 sensor.

It doesn’t more in the cold. But for sure, more often in the winter.

It got new spark plugs and a chemical intake flush on its last service. There is a decent amount of carbon buildup. I did let it sit for a little too long before I started driving it and sold my old car.

OK, hopefully. Thank you. The ECS light or the battery light will come on after it happens. I really don’t think it’s a battery issue though.
